Adobe Illustrator CC Classroom in a Book: The official training workbook from Adobe

To echo what others have said, be sure you don't get a used book! The lessons taught in this book incorporate different document/image downloads, so using this book without the support material would be pointless.That being said, I am enjoying the lessons in this book thus far! I believe I'm on Lesson 4 (each lesson takes about 45min) and have learned quite a bit! I'm slowly picking up how to navigate illustrator so that I may use it for whatever purpose I want. I grew up taking computer/excel/powerpoint/database classes and this book is very similar to the teaching books I used back then. The material and explanations are very concise and tend to over explain (which is good). Even though it is currently January of 2017 as I write this review, the changes that have been done to Illustrator since 2015 are negligible, in my opinion. There have been no changes that hinder or affect my progress through these lessons.I look forward to picking up the Photoshop class book next!

The Classroom in a Book series is awesome! If you want to learn the Adobe suite ground up, these books are the way to go.Each chapter hosts a step-by-step project working toward a common theme, introducing new tools and short cuts along the way. The writer assumes only that you know how to turn your computer on, everything else has a very simple and easy to follow description of steps. It builds on the past chapter's knowledge in the same way an instructor would design a college course. Each of the 15 projects take about 45 minutes - 1 1/2 hours.DO NOT GET A USED VERSION! The books have unique codes used to download outside images that you use to follow along with each project. A used version may be fine if the previous user never actually used the book, but I always go new just in case.

The embedded videos alone make this product is a "must have". Make sure to register and load the e-version which has the imbedded videos.

I love this book. It explains all the techniques and tools' usage very clear, step by step. It has good exercising samples to learn Illustrator on practice. English is not my native language. But even so, I understand all the explanations very well. I really appreciate it! I'd like to say a huge THANK YOU to people who wrote this book. Extremely useful. Highly recommend.

Worthy comprehensive review of Illustrator, written by the designers behind the program. Step by step instructions make for an easier understanding of the software.

This is a very comprehensive book teaching just about everything you need to know about Adobe Illustrator, but I would start with the earlier books first to really learn the basics. But I already have the 2017 version of Illustrator, and this book is for the 2015 version. They have made many improvements to the program.

Excellent manual. I highly recommend this for AI begginers.

let me start by saying that although I have played with earlier versions of Illustrator my knowledge of the program and the Mac is pretty limited.the lessons are interesting and easily adjusted for practice to things that would be relevant for most people. They are easy to download after you have made an account and contain everything you need to complete each project without haveing to search about.Lesson times are a little misleading, but that could be me, I have found that they take about 3 times as long but that is with reading time included. However I cant say that I have been distracted by that fact.The instructions themselves are good but now and then some could use a little further explanation but with patience you get there in the end. On the other hand there are also many variations discussed and tested which I found personally to much information now and then.Regardless it has put me on the right track and even though I have only finished half of the project to date I have already managed to put together some prototype artwork for my boardgames.

Very clear and easy to follow in the classroom format. Very helpful to learn illustrator thoroughly, covers everything from scratch. But lessons took at least three times longer than stated. Most lessons are stated as taking 45 minutes or 1 hour. They all took me considerably longer and I had already taken an illustrator evening course. It's not that they're too tricky, it's just working your way through the pages of a lesson takes longer than the author thinks it does. Thoroughly enjoyable course, strongly recommended if you are happy to work through the book in the lesson format. It doesn't lend itself to a quick reference index/guide.

It really is a classroom in a book but without the Bubblegum under the desk !
