Python Hands-Free and Spill Free Aquarium Hook

This works great with the Python water changer. Youll want to use a small hose from this to a female Python connector at the short hose end. Then you can use the siphon tube when removing water from a tank and unscrew it and its short hose and screw on this hook and hose. Now place something solid inder the stream of this hook so gravel and plants dont get blasted.. You can fill your tank now without worrying about it coming loose and spewing all over like a fire hose. I've lost track of all the times my Python siphon came loose whle filling a tank and spraying water all over before I noticed. This hook can also be secured down by just closing the tank lid on it. It makes filling a tank even easier when coupled with a Pyrhon. The plastic used is durable and lasts a long time. Just dont forget to stop the flow when youre filling rhe tank. Also turn on the water valve slowly at first so you dont get that blast of water experience the Python can give.

I have six fish tanks. It can be a daunting task to do weekly water changes at times. I have been using the Aqueon water changer for quite a few years. This past spring, I just had to get a Python as the Aqueon cracked and was giving me problems. The Python has a larger capacity line in it but it is softer and tends to bend more easily. One of the ways to fix this problem is to use this Hands Free attachments. WHAT IS THIS ATTACHMENT LIKE? A pretty sturdy green plastic, this hook is one of the best things I have had for the fish tanks. It comes with a black washer and it screws in where the usual tube that comes with the Python is attached. The idea is to hook the hook over the tank edge, let it fill and then turn the switch (which is still there from the other intake/outflow tube) and move to the next tank. HOW DOES THIS WORK FOR US? This makes the task of doing the fish tank water changes SO much quicker and easier. Instead of having to babysit the tube to be sure it does not change position or move, we can just quickly hook it on the edge of the tank and then tend to other tanks while it fills. When turning the switch, we can move it to the other tanks very quickly and easily. WE LOVE THIS HOOK! We take the water out via suction syphon hose and carry buckets so we can water our plants around our house. We leave the hook on and only use the Python to refill our tanks this time of year. If you wanted to use the Python to take out water and put it in, you will have to change the attachments after withdrawing water and then put the hook on. ONE WARNING One thing I want to warn you about. The Python is using inferior washers in the system. This causes leakage, and frustration with the system that would discourage a lot of people from keeping it. One simple thing you want to do is to buy a package of RUBBER GARDEN HOSE WASHERS. They only cost about $2 a dozen at the local hardware store. If you replace ALL washers with the rubber ones you won't have any leakage. That includes the one that comes with this hands free hook attachment. THE BOTTOM LINE Once we replaced all of our washers in the Python with RUBBER GARDEN HOSE WASHERS, including in this attachment, this hook makes our lives a lot easier when doing multiple water changes in our tanks. If you refill your tanks and use the original hose end to take water out of the tube, you will have to connect this hook every time you want to change what you are doing. If you remove the water with buckets, then you can use this hook and leave it on the hose. This gets five stars for making it really easy to refill fish tanks, although it is irritating that they don't provide rubber washers to begin with that don't leak.

I had the Python aquarium hook sitting in my cart for years. After taking a break from keeping fish, I never removed it from my cart because I knew at some point I’d want to give it a try. Once I set up my tank again, it was one of my first purchases! The hook makes filling my tank effortless, and it was a game-changer from the moment I used it. I've been using the Python gravel cleaner and water changer for several years and have always been impressed with the quality and ease of use. To see that same level of success with the aquarium hook is a bonus. It holds the hose in place during refills, which saves me from having to do it manually. This has been especially helpful for my arthritic hands. I no longer have to hold the hose while refilling the tank, and that’s such a relief. I can't believe I didn’t purchase this sooner, but I’m thrilled to have it finally.

They built this to last like for a very long time as you could run it over with a truck its so strong. it was a simple process to screw it on and hang it on the tank. I use it to change the water in my 75 gal. The only issue is that the part that is in the water is too short for me. I would like to be able to drain out 5-6 inches of water at a time and this will only allow 2-3 inches. Great if your forgetful and don't want to over drain but for me I have to do 2 water change cycles to get the same effect. I have a heavily planted tank so I do use the gravel siphon tube.

This makes filling a tank way easier and I think is a must have for the Python. You can hang it on the tank and walk away. One word of caution: there is nothing to diffuse the water that enters the tank so if you have sand or other small substrate it's going to end up blowing it everywhere. I used the intake strainer that came with my FX4, which I didn't need anyway, and was able to (although barely) fit it over the end - problem solved! There are many ways to go about doing this, I just used what I had on hand. I'm not sure why there are negative remarks in the reviews about draining the water from the tank with this accessory. This is not for draining your tank.

The python itself transforms the life of anyone with a big tank, and this hook makes refilling so much easier. Just hook on the side of the tank and make a coffee while it refills on its own. Great stuff.
