OTTERBOX DEFENDER SERIES Case for iPod touch 4G - Black/Coal

I bought an Otterbox after my cousin freaked out over the Thanksgiving table at me. "What's wrong with your phone?!" She cried, not realizing that 1) it was an iPod, and 2) it was a case. I realized then that the case I had had on my iPod for the past year and a half was now scratched, dinged up, and missing color in some areas. Although for all purposes, the hard plastic case (covered the back only) had done its job, and in the almost two years I've had my iPod, never let the screen get cracked through all the times I dropped it, I decided it was time for a new case. I have a somewhat significant ding on my touch screen, and wanted a hard plastic screen protector to prevent any more, and a scratch on my home button, so a cover for that was ideal too. The Otterbox defender fit both needs, arrived a day early, and after having it on for two hours, I've determined that this was an excellent purchase. It's a little difficult to type because of the raised sides, but my iPod feels like a very secure, sturdy brick. I have no problems with the rubber fitting around the plastic case, and the screen protector is like a dream. Thank you, Otterbox! You've brought me an aesthetically pleasing and functional case! I love it! The light purple is more like fuschia, though. Be warned.

Since writing this review (latter part of 2012)my Ottobox has proven just how tough it is. My iPod has dropped only two times but I hate to think what would have happened if it was not protected by the Ottobox. It is really a great investment to protect your electronics.When I received my Ottobox defender case for the ipod touch I was super excited. My excitement, however, quickly turned to puzzlement and then feelings of stupidity. As the saying goes "this is one tough cookie to crack". I read the instructions, tried to follow it, then re-read the instructions and was still no closer to opening it than when I read it the first time. Don't get me wrong. The instructions are pretty straight forward. The case is just very hard to open if you don't know what you are doing. And I sure did not know what I was doing. The first bit of instruction was remove the silicone rubber. Well I tried. I really did. I have the fingernail imprint at the top of my case now to prove it. It is really hard to pry open but that is one of the things that make this case a winner. I suggest you try prying it off at the top corner first and go to the Ottobox Website to view video on how to use. One look at the construction though and you know it will definitely "defend" your ipod touch. After removing the rubber buffer there is the plastic casing which is in 2 parts that you separate and then position the ipod touch inside. After snapping it back in place you then replace the protective rubber. There is also a built in screen so you never have to smudge the glass of your ipod touch. I made sure to secure my ipod touch in the case before using it so I don't know what the resolution of the lit screen would look like outside of the Ottobox. Nevertheless, the resolution looks fine to me. Another important thing which proves that the Ottobox was made for the ipod touch is that all the buttons, speaker and camera lens line up perfectly. The colour I chose was the atomic which is really pretty although the green is more of a lime green colour than the colour shown. Notwithstanding, I would definitely recommend this product and would certainly consider purchasing other Ottobox products. I am glad I spent the extra bucks and purchased it over some of the cheaper options available.

With kids ranging from ages 3 to 11, my previous OtterBox was destroyed in minutes. The three year old, aka "the terrorist," ripped the gel skin right off. I love the fact that this OtterBox does NOT have a gel skin. What it DOES have is a two-layer hard case and a screen protector (no more messing around with expensive films and air bubbles). It also has a protective flap for the charger/headphone jack. The kids can drop it, sit on it, and even throw it across the room and I don't need to worry about the iPod. I admit the volume & home buttons are difficult to press but as long as I can press them and the three-year-old can't, I'm happy. **Not recommended for people looking for a pretty cover. The OtterBox Defender comes in different colors but it's more functional than fashionable. It's also heavy. Highly recommended for people who are accident-prone (like me) or who live with young children (also like me).

My Grandson of 13, brought me his iPod 4 with a broken screen and asked if I could repair it.I ordered the parts. A spodger and double sided tape etc. and a new screen and digitizer - but I also ordered this OtterBox as well.He came by today for thanksgiving dinner with grandma and me and I asked him for the broken phone, which he was still using.It took about ½ an hour to fix and get all back together OK and then I put it in this OtterBox, so I would not have to do this again - hopefully. His face lit up and he was ecstatic. His phone was all better and he had an OtterBox to boot. He was chuffed to NAFFI brakes and said it had made his day.Great product and it fits really well. It should save a lot of aggravation going forward. Really feels like it is the tool for the job. I would highly recommend this protection device to anyone who has an iPod 4 and wants to protect it.Rod.

Si lo que buscas es proteger tu iPod, es una excelente opción, ya que la carcasa es muy dura y tiene varias capas. Con eso dicho, es muy complicado removerla del iPod (yo solo pude con herramientas). También necesitas más fuerza de lo normal para apretar los botones de volumen.

Its an otterbox what do you expect? They make some of the best cases on the market. This ones even got a dust cover for your charge port and headphone jack. Definitely recommend this product

Excellent. Fits like a glove and protects like armour!I don't understand why there's two holes in the top front but it works fine regardless.

Dopo la seconda volta che mia figlia ha rotto il vetro dell'iPod ho dovuto correre ai ripari.Ho acquistato la Otterbox al buio, non potendola toccare con mano... il risultato? Eccellente, facilissima da montare, calza alla perfezione e non crea nessun tipo di problema al Touch Screen ne alla visibilità.E' molto robusta, e racchiude in modo stabile l'Ipod senza pericolo di aperture accidentali, tutti i comandi funzionano alla perfezione e non c'è nessun problema nell'accesso ai connettori ne all'utilizzo della fotocamera.E' gradevole anche al tatto e l'impugnabilità dell'Ipod ci guadagna in stabilità.Appesantisce il tutto in modo assolutamente accettabile.
