Powder Everywhere, But It Works!
I got this white metal marking powder for free through the Amazon Vine program, so my wallet remained blissfully untouched. First off, yes, the powder is white—don't let the product name confuse you. It does what it promises when it comes to laser marking, leaving nice, permanent results on metal surfaces. However, let’s talk about the real adventure: trying to keep this stuff contained. Applying it feels like an arts and crafts project gone wrong, with fine white powder finding its way into every nook and cranny of my workspace (and my clothes). The included foam brush is… let’s just say, "enthusiastic." It's good enough for slapping the powder down, but finesse isn't really in its job description. I found myself wishing for something a little more precise, like a tiny roller, or maybe a trained mouse. Still, once you've gotten past the powdery chaos, the end result is pretty solid, with sharp, durable engravings that pop against the metal. It’s kind of like magic, if you can see through the powdery fog first.Overall, it’s effective, but if you plan on using it regularly, maybe invest in a better brush and a tarp for your workspace. As a freebie from the Vine program, I can’t complain too much, though my vacuum is now my best friend. Just be prepared for your next DIY project to double as a dusting session!

Did not work well with a 48W output diode
The laser was hot enough to warp the stainless steel and this mixture still didn't adhere that well. Lots of lines and streaks and easily scuffed. At lower power it just completely washed away with barely a mark.Got much better results from a 15 dollar spray can of Moly Dry Lube.Ridiculously expensive for what it is also and a very weak website with little support information.

Sharp, crisp engraving on a variety of surfaces
I received this laser marking powder specifically to write a review. That said, I try to be honest and open in all my reviews.(Please see the enclosed pictures.)I used the paste on a bunch of cards, and the results were fantastic. The paste will accommodate any level of detail and granularity that your combined software and laser printer can produce. You can see from the pictures that the results were crisp, clean, and legible. The powder is easy to use. The first step is to mix the powder with alcohol to create a paste (1::1 if you are hand painting, and 1::2 if you are using an airbrush).I was worried that my hand-brushed surfaces would create issues, but the powder is very forgiving, and even a small amount will produce great results. Then, you need to let the liquid completely dry. This is mostly because you are using alcohol as your medium, and burning hot lasers and alcohol are not a good combination.Insert the surface with the dried paste into your laser engraver.Once it is finished and cool, remove and thoroughly wash the surface.Voila, you are going to have a wonderful, clean, crisp engraved surface. One caveat, I love this powder and am going to use it all the time now, but it is a commercial product. Try to ensure that you have an open, ventilated area to do your engraving in. The material is designed to oxidize the metal; so, it is not designed for you to breath in large quantities. These warnings are clearly displayed on the package. I was a little overzealous and had to open the windows and doors after engraving the first project. My fault entirely, but I don't want you to make the same mistake.

Didn't help much
There was a slight difference using this vs not to mark metals using my laser engraver. For the price I was expecting to be wow'd. I played with the engravers settings for weeks thinking I was doing something wrong (I'm pretty versed in laser engraving) and it turns out it just is an okay product.

Made A Very Black Outline – I Think My Metal Was Wrong
I got this powder for marking metals with my laser engraver. I tried a small item first because I wanted to compare several different methods before I put it on a stainless artifact I was making. Maybe it was the material I chose that was the issue, or maybe, I didn’t make sure and sand the metal first. I did use denatured alcohol to properly clean it before I applied the powder mix.Maybe I had too thick of a mix. I followed the directions on the container, but it was way thicker than the video that is on the website. Maybe, the settings on the laser need to be adjusted and fine-tuned.The problem isn’t that it didn’t create a very black outline, it did. The problem is that it came off when I cleaned it. Instead of my laser etching being left when I washed off everything, it disappeared, too. Maybe, the metal was too thin and had too much flex. I don’t know. It’ll take a lot more time and experimentation to get it right.Amazon Vine sent this product to me for an honest unbiased review. Would I recommend it? I’m sure it works really well and my choice of metal was probably wrong. I’ll experiment more when I’m not so swamped. After that, I’ll be able to come back here and update my review. As it stands now, though, I can’t give it more than four stars. I’m not giving it less because I think my choice of metal was wrong. Galvanized is notoriously hard to get things to stick to it, but it’s the only handy scrap metal I had available.
