Great value for money
I like to cook and most of my dishes seem to come from the likes of Morocco and the Levant. So I use a lot of spices and like to grind them myself as they store and taste better in whole form.I got a chance to try these cinnamon sticks from Alpi Nature, I've had a few of their products before and always found them of good quality and fresh. These Ceylon cinnamon sticks come in a 125g resealable foil lined pouch to help keep them in excellent condition. When I opened the bag that wonderful scent wafted out reminding me of Christmas and wandering around souks and bazaars. The bag is a little bigger than needed, though I imagine they use the same ones for all their products, some of which are bulkier. The rolled up bark is quite short, so if using one in a mug of say hot chocolate as a stirrer it may get a bit lost in there and you'll get burnt fingers trying to fish it out. This also makes it hard to snap by hand, though I tend to break them up in either a pestle & mortar or in a spice grinder. They can be used whole in things like jars of sugar if you want to imbue the sugar with that cinnamon flavour and you can still use the stick for cooking afterwards. I quite often also pop a whole stick into a tagine to flavour things up and they are easy to fish out again before serving.Especially at this time of year having a plentiful supply of cinnamon is handy, if you are making things like pumpkin pie or a vat of gluhwein then having whole. fresh spices takes your creations to another level. You don't have to just eat them either, the whole stick look and smell great in potpourri or added to Christmas decorations if you feel like being all Martha Stewart. As to price if you were to by one of those dinky little Schwartz jars 13g jars you would pay £1.65 on average (£1.27/10g) whereas the Alpi Nature works out at £0.77/10g which is almost half the price and for (in my opinion) a much better and fresher product.

These excellent cinnamon sticks...
…come in an eco-friendly and sturdy 'pseudo foil lined' paper bag* which is, very sensibly, reseal-able and certainly, in my case, it protected the consistency of the sticks and the slight aroma from the dried sticks.*[which might actually be recyclable]The FULL ‘aroma and flavour’ of dried cinnamon is, of course, not experienced until the stick [or powder if you crush them] is used in cooking and/or various drinks [whether served hot or later served cold].I have used cinnamon sticks in a variety of ‘home cooked’ meals and made ‘cinnamon infused sugar’ over the years and I am confident that these sticks will do very nicely to help ‘spice up’ some of my winter dishes.Cinnamon aroma and Christmas seem to go together so well that I can see these sticks being used for things other than food enhancement – I have it in mind to make a Christmas ‘potpourri’ using some extra leaves and petals I have together with just a touch of glycol or mineral oil as a binding agent.Meanwhile I am making excellent use of these 100% natural sticks in both my coffee and tea – I have put a stick in an old coffee jar and half-filled the jar with coffee covering the stick and likewise another jar with tea bags and a stick. A feint but very identifiable aroma and so easy to do.All in all an excellent product derived from tree bark growing out in Ceylon and definitely worth 5 stars from me.Please note: I was supplied with this product free of charge for giving an honest review [having used and/or tested the product in everyday use] which I feel I have done.If this feedback/review has helped in any way please be kind enough to click on 'Helpful' or 'Comment'.Thank you for your time in reading my 'Review/Feedback' – I hope it may have helped.

Aromatic cinnamon in environmentally friendly packaging
Most of the time i tend to use cinnamon powder as it is so convenient to use, But sometimes i want to make strew that i can control the flavour development over a longer period of time. This is where these cinnamon sticks come into play, As they can be tied up with string and left to marinade in the stew juices until i feel the flavour is 'just right'It's also useful if i want to make a batch of cinnamon sugar, By leaving a few sticks in a sealed jar of sugar, It makes an aromatic cinnamon sugar that can be sprinkled onto almost anything from pancakes to pies. Even though the flavour is not super strong, It's flavourful when used the right way. It comes in a biodegradable bag that's eco-friendly, Which is also a bonus for me

Barking Up The Right Tree!
As mentioned elsewhere in reviews, I love cooking, consider I have reasonable skills and like to try products that enhance or complement flavours whenever I can. These sticks of tree bark (yep! that's what they are), come from what appears to be a German company, but that aside, I see absolutely no difference or loss of quality than if they were directly sourced from their usual Far East origin. I make my own fresh Garam Masala regularly (only enough for two curries at a time, because the flavours fade if you leave them too long) and toast the whole spices first before grinding. The scent of the Cinnamon was apparent - not overpowering, just strongly bolstering the other spices, which means it's a quality product (too weak a smell, means it's been stored too long before sale and as I said, has faded). It's a good, well stored and quality Cinnamon, that I would recommend to any cook and if you fancy a simple twist, try putting a stick on a radiator for 10 minutes or dry frying just for about 30 seconds (so it's warm, not nuclear hot) and putting it in a sealable jar with a scraped Vanilla pod and fill up with demerara sugar and the taste of a coffee or as part of a recipe is phenomenal. Excellent, competitively priced cooking addition, that is worth adding to the store cupboard in my opinion and definitely worth five stars.
