Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead, Volume 01
Ok, so a manga is not exactly what many would call an "Old Time Tale" but since this is MY blog and I get to make the rules, it fits!We got into the manga because we watched the anime on Netflix (which was great!) but could tell that there were large gaps, elements of the story that were missing. We wanted those elements and we knew where to find them. In the manga! We first read this in the Kindle version. And since it's a manga it is published in the Japanese style. You read it from right to left. It was easy to remember to swipe the page to the left to turn it. The tricky part was remembering to read the panels on the pages from right to left as well! I finally got the hang of it though, along about the last page.Anyway, the manga was as much fun as the anime. It's an unusual story about a young, overworked office worker type who is suddenly freed from his hellish existence by the coming of the zombie apocalypse. No longer is he forced to live a life on constant drudgery and solitude. Suddenly he finds that he has the freedom to live the life he's always wanted. So what is the first thing he does? He makes a list, of course. A list of all the things that he wants to do before he gets turned into a zombie. And it's not a bad list. Mostly things that any normal young man would do. Tell the girl he secretly loves how he feels. Party with his best friend. Wear an expensive watch. Ride a big ass motorcycle. Thank his parents for being such good people and raising him.I expect we'll be moving on to volume 02, since we finished season 01 on the Netflix anime and there is still clearly much more story to go.Kids, reading manga counts! Don't let teachers or parents tell you otherwise. If you read manga, you are reading! Good for you. (But try reading some conventional books too, just to keep them happy!)Read every day and read for fun!

Happily Surprised
I bought the first issue on a whim wanting to try a new series with no preconceived notions. This manga was an absolutely delightful joy to read.Despite taking place in an apocalyptic bloody zombie nightmare, the story and art manages to give off the perfect amount of humor, adventure, and hopefulness. Something we all need in our lives considering all that's occurring in the real world these days. The main character's positive outlook amongst such a dire situation is something I wish to aspire to in my own life and this manga actually inspires me to do so.Will definitely be continuing the series!***for anyone who may be wondering, NOT FOR KIDS. Nudity and graphic violence.

A dark comedy we can all relate to.
Who else hates their job? Man I know I do, but the way akiras job is I’m just glad mine is chill. You get to go on this whacky zany adventure that’s so hilarious and entertaining i ended up loving it after a couple chapters. My favorite part is the way the artist draws expressions, it’s all very unique, has that manga style but still feels very real

Comical and Somewhat Relatable
I havent read or bought a manga in several years and honestly I fell in love with Zom 100. I felt connected to Akira almost immediately as a fellow 24 year old who hates their job and has imagined unlikely scenarios so I would never have to go back. Zom 100 is extremely different compared to other zombie shows because I've never seen a character become so full of life due to the world ending.I expected the usual panic and instinct to survive but got so much more. Akira was happy to do simple things such as clean his apartment and drink beer. Then he felt the regret of not living his life as he wished because of his corporate job so he makes a bucket list! Watching a character so overjoyed about doing what he can to enjoy his life has never felt so refreshing.I 100% recommend Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead to any manga reader.

Great manga, bad condition.
The book was great, I am just a tad bit upset that the book did not come in good condition. I am not sure why but Amazon delivery always causes creasing in my manga.

Outstanding Zombie Apocalypse read
If the rest of the series is like the first volume, it is destined to be a hit. It is one of the most entertaining manga on surviving an apocalyptic zombie attack I have read in a long time.

Love this series
Great comedy series with some serious topics made to come off in a light hearted way. Had to re buy the first book because my cat knocked it into my fish tank and the beta could not resist a couple sample bites 😅 but the fact that I was willing to re buy should tell you that it's good

Now being made into an anime !
The cover art is different and eye catching. The story is gripping. It basically says that there's a strong need for work life balance. The comedy is adorable. This is rated R for mature audiences.

Ridiculous, but surprisingly entertaining and really gets you thinking
A different take on the zombie apocalypse plot. What if your dead end job was so bad that a zombie apocalypse was liberating, all because you didn't have to go to work anymore? The premise is ridiculous, and there's a lot of silliness, but surprisingly there are some heartfelt moments too. I feel like the author is using the humour to deliver a message about themes like harmful work culture, and living life to the fullest. The subtitle 'Bucket List of The Dead' refers to a list the protagonist makes of 100 things he'd like to do before becoming a zombie. It makes you think about what your bucket list would be. Things you've always wanted to do but never have because life kept getting in the way. There's a lot to unpack here, which is why it's so interesting.I'm not a big manga reader, so I don't know if this is the norm, but I finished it in around an hour. It felt quite short. Also, just a heads up, there's some partial nudity - in case that's a concern.Overall, I was hooked - I definitely wanna check out Vol 2! But honestly, I have no idea where things will go from here. We'll have to see if this series maintains it's interest, but for now I recommend checking it out!
