Great family fun - but some issues - SOLVED
Very fun - great family activity. BUT, there are some issues: 1) The sensors, even once calibrated, do not detect 100% of the shots; we may have a faulty sensor. 2) The calibration seems to change as you play. Perhaps the vibration of the backboard causes the calibration wheels to move ever so slightly. 3) The electronics have distinct parts of the game where they will not detect a basket; just as round one is finishing, and just as round two is finishing. If you sink a ball during the blackout moment between each round, which lasts about one second, then it will not count. 4) It's a battery hog; initially set up with batteries it used up 4 AA's in the first 3 days after installation. Luckily it also comes with an ac adapter, so we're using that now. 5) The installation instructions are fairly good for the first half, then there are several parts where they are not very descriptive and we had to make some assumptions. All in all, we'll probably keep it - although we may try to contact the company to get a new sensor if we keep having shots that are not counted. The construction is solid and well designed. The installation was lengthy; they say 2-3 hours for 2 people. It took us, 2 people, 1hr 25min with an allen wrench bit and socket set; that sped it up quite a bit, not using their dinky wrench and allen/screw.SENSOR ISSUE SOLVED 1/20/18The company sent me free sensors. But it turns out it wasn't even necessary. I had supplemented the amount of balls with other mini basketballs (brand Franklin), same dimensions, but different COLORS. It turns out the sensors do not detect black (and probably other dark colors) very well at all. After much testing, light colors, orange, yellow, etc are seen very well and at expected distances by the sensors. Black is poorly is detected unless you are right on top of the sensor. The system works perfectly now and we'll be replacing the balls with black swatches. Revised my review to better reflect the overall quality of the equipment, systems, and game.

Quality Item
The biggest question you have to answer is if the cost is worth it. You can find indoor basketball games at Sams Club, Costco or WalMart for $100.You can also pay five times this amount for a Rhino Sports which uses metal side grates instead of nylon netting.I actually bought a $100 kit before buying this item. There is no question the quality here is top notch. One main advantage to the Lifetime unit is the electronic scoreboard is AC power. Most others on the market, including more expensive ones, use batteries.Do be aware that you will need to assemble and use this near a wall outlet.Once assembled, the goals are rigid and sturdy and the unit doesn't wobble.I am pleased with this purchase.I was meticulous with assembly and had no issues with the scoreboard. Many reviewers said the electronic scoring was hit and miss.If you are careful with insuring the sensors are flush, and place the main unit correctly with black and brown wires, you should have no issue. Also, some mentioned balls did not stay inflated, but I've had no issues with the basketballs.I assembled this alone and it took about 4 hours, but I worked at a deliberate and causal pace. With two people, it should be quick and easy. The pieces are all marked with identifiers. The nuts and bolts as well. The assembly instructions are clear - not the best I have seen, but adequate.Do not bother with the included cheap wrench- use your own socket wrench and assembly will go much faster. There are only a few confusing moments during install, such as how the nylon return sleeve should be laid out.My kids and I have already played on this many times and sometimes roughly and the unit has been solid.I would recommend this to anyone with the room and a high ceiling.I will update as needed if I encounter any issues.Update 11-19-12 ---One month later and absolutely no issues with the BB goal. Our teenage daughters had a Halloween party for 30+ 7th and 8th graders. 4 hours of abuse from teenage boys and the BB goal is still performing exceptionally. In my opinion, if you assemble carefully and torque the nuts and screws for the scoring unit, you will have no issues.Update 12-01-12I have had one basketball lose some air. The other 6 are fine.Update 12-12-16 ----Still going strong, but basketballs do need to be aired up on a consistent basis. That is a minor issue

Great quality and great fun! Gift for my 7 year old -- and me too!
This was a Christmas gift for my 7 year old -- turns out it was one for me too!Assembly - took about 2 hours for my dad and me to put this together. Wasn't difficult but just took some time to get down. Overall directions were generally clear (could have been a little easier) and all of the parts were very well marked and appear well made. Would recommend using your own wrench/socket set/screw driver if you want to make it a little easier. Overall it was about as hard / easy as i expected it to be.Quality - This was the primary reason we ordered this system vs. others that were cheaper. We wanted a high quality toy that would last a reasonable amount of time and be able to be used by both kids and adults. Simply put I am very pleased with the quality of this machine. Only had for about a month but so far it has been exactly as advertised. You may have different priorities but quality at a reasonable price was our objective and I can say without hesitation that I highly recommended this system based on our use to date. I will be surprised if I have problems with this machine as it seems well built and designed (knock on wood).Overall - great fun for kids and adults. A little far of a shot for my 4 year old still but she found that with a lighter ball she can even make a few baskets in 30 seconds. 7 year old has a much easier time with it but is still learning. I actually think this will be a great learning tool to help him improve his form as normal size balls require too much effort to shoot on a 10 foot rim with the right form. For me this is is great. Neighborhood dads seem to be the only ones that like it more than the young ones. Current high score is 127 - bring it!!

Excellent system, and worth the price
Likes:It's a good workout and entertaining for all ages, and well worth the price. Even though this is more expensive than the other systems, it seems durable and well worth the price.Dislikes:Could have different game modes. Sometimes it doesn't count the baskets, but it doesn't happen too frequently.Tips:It does take about 2 hours to assemble, and you should have 2 people to put it together. Make sure that you align the parts correctly, or else you may have assembled it wrong and have to take it apart. Also, make sure that you have enough clearance space in the area you are going to put it in. As mentioned, it is well worth the price!
