Initially a little tricky to unfold, but with practice it gets easier. Front door that lifts vertically and folds flush against roof is a great space saver!

This is great quality crate. The double door access means that it will be flexible. The divider will allow us to expand the crate as our pup grows. Once he is house trained and a little bigger, we will be able to remove the divider and use the large side door to allow for easy access yet still have the option of securing him if needed.I would definitely recommend this item.

Downside is that we are only able to use one door, because the PRIMAL door does not slide up. At least not easily. Have to use a lot of force to pull it up. Even then it won't come up in a single pull. I have to have 5 sessions of using max force to yank the door up.When I want to close the door again ( slide it down), then it takes me 15 min minimal or more to do so, because it doesn't fit properly to the frame and I have to yank it down using the force in many sessions again. By then my puppy is frustrated and anxious from all the shaking and noice.Was not able to contact the seller because there was no button or email to get in touch with. Also we can't return the crate because we desperately need it right now because we have to start going to work again and crate train him immediately because puppy has the socialisation window and needs to learn to love the crate. Also it is a huge hassle because the crate came over a month to Estonia. Asked for refund they declined because they want the defected crate shipped back first. Asked PARTIAL REFUND for the door not working but the declined so not helpful at all.Super sad because MidWest has had so much good reviews on their products.Otherwise a beautiful and modern crate. Sadly we can only use one door.

Easy to put up and down and easy to open. We use for dogs but also take the plastic tray out and stand it on bricks to put hens in when we need to stop themBeing broody.

This is a great product. this is the second crate of this brand we have bought and it is perfect for our needs. The sliding front door is such a space saver!Unfortunately this time the product arrived with one of the handles broken and we do not know how to substitute it.

Already have a smaller Midwest Life Stages crate, which has been excellent so had great hopes for this one. Unfortunately as soon as this was delivered today I noticed straight away the measurements quoted on the Amazon product page "About this item" (36.75L x 23.25W x 25H Inches) were different from those printed on the box (36.75L x 25.125W x 27H Inches), so it's too wide to fit in the space the dog lives. NB: on going back to check, the sizes quoted on the seventh product image *are* correct.Once unfolded also discovered the crate's plastic base is cracked in two places, so even if it was the right size would still need to send it back. Item return it is. Disappointing.

The Ovation model is by far the best design in dog crates. Its unique slider allows us to feed without a dog making a break for it. I can easily take things in and out without opening the door completely. The metal is thicker, heavier, sturdier than other crates, which is super important because we have mastiffs. Big, strong ones. A flimsy crate will definitely not do. The front door with the slider is nice and wide. Our dog could get in easily while wearing his cone of shame. The side door could have a better locking system. My cane corso easily lifted the door and let himself out. He’s exceptionally smart and was determined to get out so that might be the exception and not the norm. We do own 3 different Midwest Homes for Pets crates in varying models and no one else has been able to break out. The crates are roomy and easy to clean. This brand can be more expensive but when you need a reliable crate to protect the dogs from each other, this is a solid choice. We have 5 dogs and the pack is always growing. If I need another crate I’ll definitely revisit this brand.

Before reading the rest of the review be aware that I bought this crate 'Used' so I expected "cosmetic damages" as the description stated. With caring for as many as 20 rescue cats and kittens at one time, I have crates of all sizes and from most major brands on Amazon. Finding a crate for 1/2 price is always a 'score'.This crate is by FAR the most well-built crate I have owned. It is extraordinarily sturdy and this is immediately noticeable when you pick up the box, as it is very heavy. The design is unique and (for me) there were some positive and negative aspects to this. The garage-style door is something I have needed for a long time, since I often join multiple crates together. Not having to remove a door saves a lot of work. Just lift it up and out of the way.The design of the latching system on the front door was frustrating to me, but I wasn't able to tell whether it was the door design or a result of the many bent wires the crate arrived with (beware that this is what was referred to as "cosmetic damage". I finally removed the door handle and now the door functions easily. Either way, I like this system more than the normal bar and loop latch.Both doors are HUGE! This allows me to remove, clean and return any size litter box without dumping dirty litter on the crate or my kennel floor while trying to wiggle the box out. Love this feature!I have always relied on Midwest to find reliable, quality products I need to sustain my foster home, at a reasonable price. But with this crate they have exceeded all my expectations! Worth every penny.Note that I have given a 5 star rating for 'traveling' as well, but the weight of this crate may not make it your best option for that purpose.

Very high quality, nice thick wire, heavy duty tray, thuroughly coated in black paint.Dramatically better, and lower priced, than what you can get at pet smart, and the tray is sold separately in the pet stores near me. There is nothing to assemble with this product. It folds flat and comes folded up, but fully assembled. The tray slides in easily, and it comes with rubber feet to protect your floor and cut down on noise when your pet moves around. My 11 year old got it out of the box and put it up in about 5 minutes.

The garage style door on our older, smaller Ovation crate operated a bit more smoothly and had a better catch, but this one works just fine. Crate is a bit heavy and takes up space even when folded, but okay with that. This 36" Ovation crate has more than enough space for our dog who is a little over 30" long. He's still a pup so may grow just a little more. He'll still sleep in the older 30" crate but it doesn't give him sufficient room to stretch out. Sturdy, decently constructed. Happy with this crate. Works for us.
