.com Who doesn't want a smart baby? This video was previously called Babyscapes--before the company's remarkable success led them to take the name over as the production company name. Originally released in 1996, this video was a pioneer of sorts, featuring CGI shapes and colors (in primarily black, red, and white to draw the attention and interest of the youngest of viewers). The images are set to classical music, and this video is not only an easy way to stimulate your precious little one but a video that parents, caregivers, and older siblings will appreciate after many repeated viewings. Why? Because it offers soothing, beautiful music. Included are: Delibes's Pizzicato Polka, Pachelbel's Canon, Bach's "Air on a G String," Beethoven's "Für Elise," Grieg's "Anitra's Dance," and Brahms's "Lullaby." For the initial screenings, parents should watch along with their babies, noting the contrasting colors and shapes and dancing to the rhythms of the music. Afterwards, parents may be amazed to find how this video can hold the interest of baby--and be content to know experts deemed this combination of classical music, shapes, and colors good stimulation for your baby's growing mind. It also comes with a very helpful booklet. This is a perfect--and uniquely useful--baby shower gift for parents-to-be or recent parents. (Ages 3 months to 3 years) --N.F. Mendoza

An excellent video!
My daughter has had this since she was about 4 months old (she's 14 months old now). She's enjoyed this video more and more as she's gotten older. She used to sit and watch each section, and now she likes having it on in the background as she moves around the room playing. The first section (Bouncing Balls) is still her favorite. She likes to dance to it now!The only complaint I have about the video is the 5th song which is very slow and the accompanying video is far too boring to keep any infant or toddler interested (balloons slowly floating across a cloud filled sky). My daughter hated that section when she was younger, and now just tolerates it.Overall, a wonderful video. I also recommend the "Miracle of Mozart" by the same company. At 14 months, my daughter loves that one as well. The colors video by the same company is not as big of a hit, and she ignores it as often as not.

Not as captivating as other videos out there
I've purchased many of the "baby" videos on the market. This one just doesn't measure up to the rest. Sound quality is poor and seems rather dull. My children prefer the Baby Einstein and Brainy Baby series over the Babyscapes line, from birth on up. My three-year-old still loves to watch those with his six month-old sister. Avoid these, they just aren't worth the money.

Rather short and kind of creepy, but then I'm not a baby
Conforms to the popular research that says babies like black, white, red and contrasts. I'm not a baby so I can't say for sure. My 4 year old who is fascinated by patterns loves this video. My two year old is bored silly with it.I do think that it is easy to decide before buying if your child will like it or not. It has soothing, infant appropriate sound track and very monotonous pictures. It's a good length for a baby who should not be watching TV in the first place but if you must I think this is about as close to a mobile on TV as you can get.

Excellent 30 minute time additive!
My 6 month old loves this video. The only way I can take time for myself (dishes, reading, etc.) is when I put this video on. Even when he is really cranky and nothing seems to console him. I turn this video on and he is suddenly transformed into a mesmerized state of mind. The first 4 songs are his favorite. The last 2 is when he gets fussy again. This movie has moving shapes, balloons etc. that move to the beat of classical music. It really helps him and me relax.
