if you need a lathe Chuck, this is what you should buy.
Beautiful piece. All operation is smooth end to end with no rough spots. Runout is undetectable. the clamping force of the dovetail jaws is excellent. Simply a great piece at a great price. The closed back should keep the mechanism protected from dust and chips for many years.

This chuck is as nice as its larger sister
This chuck is as nice as its larger sister, the HTC125. Same great quality and strong holding power. But it does not have the set screws like the HTC125. I added set screws because I often use reverse for sanding or finishing and cant have a chuck come undone, but it would be nice if the Mfg had added at least the threaded holes for the screws.

Wobbles
Installed as per instructions, turned on the lathe and watched it spin with a very pronounced wobble. Packed it back up and returned for a refund.

Very pleased with product.
Great product. My husband is very happy with this tool. The owner of the Woodturning Store was very helpful in helping him make the decision to buy this product. Works great. My husband is now planning on buying another set of jaws.

Affordable, solid, smooth, runs true. I'd definitely recommend.
I am a new turner, so take that into account.I debated between 4 and 5 stars. I have no complaints about this chuck. It was affordable and it the quality seems to be just fine. Well built, runs true, works great. I haven't used the 125 to know which size is more appropriate, but everyone told me to get this one. It was hard for me to not spend the few extra bucks for the 125, assuming that meant it would be better. But again, I was advised that this would be a more appropriate size for me, even though my lathe seems large to me. I have a PM #90, which is 12".The worm screw works great and it well retained in the chuck, engaging at two points. The tee handle is an 8mm square stock end. I used locktite on the ball that was loose on the handle. The only reason I decided to go with 4 stars is because I would LOVE a way to hand adjust the chuck when installing or removing a piece. I'm probably being picky, but I dislike having to stand there turning the tee round and round while it's still 3/4" away from the tenon. I know of at least one other (expensive) chuck that has a hand operated ring at the rear. Boy would that be nice. The large tee, while great for cranking down on the tenon, is a bit of a pain for the loose adjusting. I ordered a socket bit that I will use with a stubby round (large knurled) tool that fits in my palm. I've had it so long, but I don't even know what to call it. That will allow me to make much less painless adjustments, switching to the tee once it's snugged. If you find that I'm being too picky about that, then pretend I gave the chuck 5 stars. After installing the needed spindle ring for my PM, I tested the chuck for runout and was pleased to see just 1/1000th at the outer end, just before the jaws.As a final note. I've not yet needed accessories for this chuck. That *may* be an issue when comparing it to other chucks if you need a more robust assortment of compatible accessories. But they do sell cole jaws for this one.

Disappointing - Poor machining - Raw dangerous edges
The machining has rough surfaces and sloppy tolerances between parts with a raw sharp edge on every corner. The poor quality of the machining is evident when turning the scroll screw. One must work the key back and forth, as it jams up as it is tightened and loosened.Every machined edge of this tool has been left raw, resulting in numerous sharp, cutting-edge surfaces. I sliced a substantial piece of skin off my knuckle simply installing it. I can only imagine what would have been the result had that surface contacted me while spinning.I took some time to do what the manufacturer should have done, disassembled the chuck and and relieved dozens of corners with my grinder and a file, reassembled it and put it to use. Today, four days later, I looked down and found blood on my work. Again this chuck had cut me on an raw edge that I missed.I regret this purchase.
