Great Alarm. Good decision.
After a week of debating between X-Sense, First Alert and Kidde I decided I was going to give X-Sense a try. Why? I had two First Alert alarms installed. Both alarms claimed to have a 10 year battery life. 1 of the alarms tripped over the summer and just about 2 weeks ago our other one decided to wake us up at 2 AM. Both were false alarms as we have additional carbon monoxide alarms which never triggered. I'd say they lasted us about 6 years so it wasn't terrible but waking up at 2 AM to a false alarm is enough to have customers check out other options.I know a few people who have Kidde alarms and have no complaints about them but while going through reviews on here it was a split of users who liked them versus those who didn't like them.Reading about the X-Sense alarms kind of eased my mind. I read through the reviews and there weren't many people with negative comments which I found weird. Either way I decided to go with these alarms and picked up 3. I was nervous that these may be some crap product from China but I was very happy when I received them.Alarms arrived a I was impressed from the box, to the alarm design, to the features and finally the simple installation. The ring/bracket which mounts on the wall/ceiling has 3 screws so be prepared to replace the 2 screw mount that's most likely on your ceiling already.Once the mount is installed all you have to do is turn the alarm clockwise onto the bracket. Once it sits on the bracket the alarm will turn on and activate. The screen does display the battery life and would also display the amount of carbon in the air if detected. The screen lights up blue to make it easier to see.The alarms are extremely loud but do not speak. Fire/smoke versus carbon has different alarms. There is a green flash every now and then that lets you know things are operating smoothly.Since I just installed these I can't go on much more about them but I hope I this helps anyone who may be stuck between a few different models.I'm very happy with my decision at this point.

LCD does not show realtime C0 level
I purchased these thinking that the display would show you the current CO levels present, they do not do that. I took one of the units out to my garage and started up my Diesel tractor and gas car and let them run for about 15 minutes with the garage door closed. I had placed the detector behind the car at the level the exhaust came out. When I came back after 15 minutes of both vehicles running and entered the garage the fumes were so bad they burn your eyes, the X-Sense happily showed 0 ppm CO and not an alarm of any type. I opened the garage door and it took about an hour for it to air out and clear the fumes. These got picked back up and returned, thank you Amazon for an easy return process.

DO NOT BUY
DO NOT BUY THIS!We bought this back in February of this year! It looked wonderful and it looked like it was going to work till it didn’t.We had a gas leak in our home and slept right through it because this never went off. We all ended up at the hospital with carbon monoxide poisoning and it never went off!!!! The fire department said to throw it away because it doesn’t work. We bought it so it could save our life’s but it nearly ended them.Save your money!

Quick and easy to install
I had a Google Nest smoke detector for 6 1/2 years. I was not happy with it. It intentionally shuts off 7 years after manufacture (End Of Life Nov 2020) but 3 months prior, it started beeping every minute to tell me it was EOL. Since I bought it 3 months after it was built, I didn't even get the full 7 years. The Nest is an IoT (Internet of Things) device, so it can in theory spy on you. (It has a camera to tell if you're waving your arms at it, but the arm waving thing never worked.) Worse, a hacker could in theory break into it and spy on you. It also sounded repeated false alarms 3 months ago - the fire dept came out and confirmed there was no smoke. The X-Sense is none of that nonsense. It's good for 10 years at 1/3 the price of the Nest. It has a digital CO display, and you never have to replace the battery. It installed quickly and easily and passed its initial test. No IoT and no camera.

Good detector but no voice alert
These are good looking detectors that work as specified and provide different tone alerts for smoke and carbon monoxide. But - my fault, not anything wrong with the product -- I found out too late that our local fire code requires detectors that also have a voice alert that announces whether the alert is for smoke of carbon monoxide. I suggest checking with your local fire department before buying new detectors.

Great quality, *really* well thought out
Just installed three of these in a short time—they are vastly better looking than the ugly, yellowed Kidde detectors that have been false-alarming, both for smoke and CO (checked the latter with a pure CO detector) recently. And they're just 2-3 years old. Four out of the five Kidde units went bad—we'll see how the X-sense do when it comes to detection (and yellowing) but I already like them better for five reasons:1) The design is beautiful—finally, a smoke detector that isn't hideous2) The CO readout in PPM is far better than the pass/fail of the Kidde3) Easy install4) Thoughtful detail: Wondering how I was going to ensure that they would not look crooked once twist-locked to their newly installed bases, I noticed the "V" in "DEVICE" printed into the mount marks the exact center at bottom, so that the detector will be straight once it is added to the base. Brilliant…and the kind of smart design/forethought that suggests a designer or team that's really on their game—which bodes well for other aspects of a device. So far, five stars, well earned.

Buen producto
