No Anode Rod Needed - Tank interior coated with Zinc Alloy.
My old atwood water heater lasted 9 yeras. I believe atwood is the only one that doesn't need an anode. The Atwood water heater tank is constructed of a core of high strength aluminum. The interior of the tank consists of a 15% thickness of type 7072 aluminum and zinc that is fused to the core during the rolling process. This material protects the tank from the affects of heavy metals and salts found in waters throughout the country. It is anodic to these heavy metals and acts much like an anode in a steel glass lined tank except it will last much longer. There is no need for an anode with atwood marine water heaters. Flushing the tank on a regular basis has been found to be helpful in insuring the best performance of your water hater and adding to the useful life of the tank. For flushing instructions see your owners manual or contact Atwood for a copy of their recommended procedures.

This replaced the old one perfectly!
The 20 year old Atwood which I replaced had wiring hookups in front with the plumbing connections in back. The new improved Atwood had wiring and plumbing in front which is more convenient if you ever have to change out a hose in the space provided in my boat! We used the heater 3 weeks this summer and it worked great. Be sure to fill it up with water before turning it on and drain it in the winter. I used RV anti-freeze to winterize the pipes.

Delighted
Product is exactly as advertised. Installation simple and the only complication was the close working condition in the boat.

Relatively easy to remove old unit and install new one
Purchased this new one as a replacement for the same unit that failed after 9 years in my Bayliner power boat. Relatively easy to remove old unit and install new one.

My boat is a 1990, and this was an exact fit. Had to cut the lines from the engine, but was perfect. SOOO surprised.
