Different Like Me: My book of Autism Heroes: is the perfect book for up to middle-school range. It dedicates one page to each person discussed; i.e. Temple Grandin, Albert Einstein, etc. It would be a great resource book for a child who needs to do a school report on a scientist or artist who is has/had austism or asperbergers syndrome. Very reassuring that people who are "different" are only that...."different, not less".

What an Awesome book this was a great read. I loved reading about the talented people and how they rose to their calling. This book will be great to encourage any child that has a different way of learning. I would recommend this book to any parent that would like to explain to their children that we are all special in our own way. Thank you Jennifer Elder!

Great book for middle schoolers who have an ASD diagnosis..As their teacher, I found this book a gateway to exploring individual exceptionality while teaching basic social tools for navigating a time of catching up academically and growing up emotionally and physically

I bought this for my Grandson who loved it due to his autism. It could have been more detailed or had more people in it. Such as Dan Akroyd, Matt Savage, Kim Peek, David Byrne, Tim Burton (especially important to kids), Satoshi Tajiri (creator of Pokemon- really special top some kids) and literally dozens of other people kids could identify with in their daily lives. The book needs to reach the kids!!!!! The premise is great...write one for kids of today who want to reach for something.

My 10 year old granddaughter has Asperger's Syndrome which is a form of Autism. This book means so much to her that she even takes it to bed with her. This book has helped her to know that even though she is different she is still special and can do most anything if she tries her hardest and keeps working at it. People that I never realized have autism have had to live with the same difficulties as our little Carley. People who have accomplished wonderful things in this world. This is an awesome book and I feel every child/adult that has to daily live with autism should own this book and read it as much as possible to help them realize and remember how very special they are!!

This book is good for kids who have learning differances specifically those with autism and other disabilities. It is encouraging because it talks about many famous people who wre different and still succeded. I recommend this book to kids and parents who have learning disorders. It tells you that being different is not bad; it is just different.

I am thankful I found this book. My child has Autism and is into historical people like Albert Einstein. This helped us discuss Autism and show what these important people have done and helped him embrace his Autism. Each person has a great biography. I also learned things that I didn't know. Worth the purchase!

I teach children with autism, grades 4-6, with an average reading leave of 2nd grade. This book is above their reading level. It also is written more like a text book than a story book. I don't think that it will hold their interest. I do like that it includes women.

An exciting book about many famous people who just happen to be very interesting as well as having autism. I had not heard of a few of them and the ones I had heard of are Albert Einstein, Hans Christian Andersen, Alan Turing and Nikola Tesla. Some other famous people in the book are Immanuel Kant, Barbara McClintock, Joseph Cornell, Dian Fossey, Temple Grandin and a few more. The book is written through the eyes of a young boy who is 8 years old and has Aspergers Syndrome. It is really nicely written and would be a wonderful book to read to a group of children. Each chapter is a different person and a short introduction to their life and their wonderful achievements with mention of their personality and how it may be perceived as being different to others. Hans Christian Andersen wrote many stories and the two that stand out for me the most are "The Ugly Duckling as well as The little mermaid". The many gifted and talented people in this book are really amazing. Glen Gould the musician is described in the following way "What made him different also made him great". I think that quote really sums up everyone mentioned in this book. It is lovely to be different and for people to recognise that in a positive way. This book is special and I would highly recommend it. I have the kindle version but will buy the paper version for my daughter to take to school so that she can read it to the 9-11 year old children where she is training to be a teacher.

Great read for all kids and adults and not just those on the spectrum. Way to give a positive perspective and highlight the abilities of autistic heroes and not just the limitations

Great product, as per description

This book sure gives a lot of hope to any kinds of autistic people; it shows us all the people mentioned in this book turned out to be successful although they weren't always good at fitting in. Simply put, they were differently-abled, not mentally retarded at all. I guess that's mainly because they had different sort of talents nobody else had ever thought of. I know there are still biased people against mental illness and impairments. However, I'd like them to deal with this book to think twice about mental or developmental challenges. And let me get it straight: You'll eventually get burned if you put down this book! That's why I would like not only people with autism or AS but NT people to buckle down to this inspiring book! Don't label this 'just for kids only'!

Loved finding out all the folk on the spectrum who've made our world the way it is - it would certainly be a poorer place without them all!
