Cheaply made, but at a cheap price. Perfectly usable and quite sturdy if on a tight budget.
Tools House™ TH0308 7 pieces car body repair kitFor just £27 you do get quite a comprehensive set of panel beating tools, all are neatly stored within a plastic storage case. Are these high quality tools?.. The answer to that has to be a resounding no! Are they worth £27?.. Well, considering the amount of tools that you receive then I would have to say yes they are worth it!These tools I'm sure are aimed more towards home use, rather than towards a professional Panel Beater. Panel Beating was my trade for many years, so I do know a little about the subject. There is no doubt that there are some useful dollies and hammers in this kit which can be safely stored away in the plastic case until needed. The main issue that I have with these is the way they have been made. The dollies and hammer heads are made from cast metal, it's clear that not a lot of care has been taken in their construction. The casting is very rough, there are many pits and impurities in the metal of the dollies and hammer heads. These clearly have been ground down by hand by an unskilled worker, rather than by a precision machine. The resulting surfaces are bumpy and rough looking, this gives the whole set of tools a cheap look about them. The hammer handles seem to be better quality, they are made from fibreglass with rubber grips, these are securely bonded into the hammer heads. Are they strong and up to the job? They are certainly useable. The poor metal casting does not affect their performance, after all they are cheap enough to buy. The whole point of a Panel beating kit is that the dollie should be hard and heavy, whilst the hammer should be well balanced with a decent amount of weight behind it. The Hammer and dolly faces are not particular flat or well shaped, but they are perfectly capable. The slight unevenness is not going to cause too many problems, in fact it may even help to shrink the inevitable stretched metal. I do feel that the dollies are a little on the small size though. This set would be ideal for home use where you may need to knock out the occasional dent. But for the professional Panel Beater, they would definitely want something a little better quality than this, although these will do the job if strapped for cash. I'm sure if these were higher quality then they would almost certainly be at a higher price.CONTENTS:1 x Reverse Curve Hammer1 x Standard Bumping Hammer1 x Pick And Finish Hammer1 x Utility Dolly1 x Heel Dolly1 x Double End Hand Dolly1 x Curved Dolly1 x CaseThank you for reading my review, I hope you have found it helpful.

Cheap set and not good quality
First off let me say i hate writing bad or negative reviews but i do like to leave honest ones.I was very excited to get these as i actually have a vintage bonnet i wanted to knock a load of dents out of to try restoring it and the write up on amazon looked good with good pictures so i was looking forward to these arriving.Firstly the thin plastic case isnt really up to storing big heavy hammers and dollys, mine had a few stress marks already where it had been banged around as you can see from an example in picture 2, other than that the case seems to be designed for the hammers and dollys so at least it was universal. Then i looked at the hammers and i picked up the first one and it was a little rough on the end, on inspection the next 2 where worse (see pictures 4 and 5) so this was disappointing, the shaft is fairly thin and handle ok for a budget set but the ends really mean you would be knocking out bigger dents and putting smaller ones back in.So then i moved on to the dollys hoping things would improve.......they didnt, as you can see from the sample pics they are as bad or worse than the hammers, one is so lumpy from the cast its completely unusable and not even sure it could be saved.I contacted the seller and asked if this was what was expected just in case i had received a bad or unfinished test bunch and their only reply was i could send them back for a refund. Not very helpful when you are supposed to be reviewing their product for quality. So i wont be sending them back as i could use the dollys as door stops but i might try grinding them down and seeing if i can make them flat myself as i do actually want to use them.£27.00 is the current price and if they were as the pictures showed thats a good price for a budget set, but for what i received i would be asking for a refund straight away.

Good value but not exactly precision
I have been looking for a decent set of hammers since my old ones are mostly rusted and a couple have had their handles broken. These looked quite good when I saw the listing so I decided to order these. They came in a sturdy box which felt quite heavy but when I took out the hammer, I realised that it was a normal plastic box. It does help to keep the hammers in one place but I already had a toolbox so didnt need this plastic box.The hammers went into my tool box where as the dollies have been lying in the garage as I am not too confident to do any work on my car with them. They dont look very precise and high quality. I did have to take out a dent in my car but dont want to risk it with these and also because I havent done anything like this before. The hammers have proven useful for other DIY jobs around the house that I have been doing in the last few weeks. They seem to be quite sturdy and provide a good grip. They are not too heavy when used 1 at a time so makes it a bit easy to handle them.Pros Good quality hammers Easy to handle Comes in a box to keep eveything neatly storedCons The dollies dont look well madeOverall, at this price, I would say this is a good hammer set alone without counting the dollies but if you need a precision metal body tool set, I would advise to look elsewhere. 4 Stars

Not as smooth finish as they could be
Comes well presented in a plastic moulded case, where everything has it's own moulded slot. The case has clip fastening to open and close. The tools themselves are fairly heavyweight. Inside the case you get 1 x Reverse Curve Hammer1 x Standard Bumping Hammer1 x Utility Dolly1 x Heel Dolly1 x Pick And Finish Hammer1 x Double End Hand Dolly1 x Curved Dolly. They all have rubber grips on each if the handles my partner had a look at these and most pieces didnt have the smooth straight edges and finishes you would expect. Like they hadn't been cast properly. If you were to try and straighten out a panel, you would want your tools to be straight and smooth to beginning with, otherwise you could do more harm than good the hammers will still get used alot around the house and in the garage though, just not for the job they were intended for.
