My Dad chokes a lot after his stroke. His speech pathologist recommended this product. It’s been super helpful for him. It’s expensive but worth it if you can afford it.

This product was recommended to me to use for my mom’s liquids from both her Dr. and Speech Therapist while in the hospital back in January (she’s 94 and has a hiatal hernia that cannot be surgically removed). It’s easy to use and mixes well. She hasn’t complained about the taste (win) The bottle may be a bit pricey but it’s more economical. I would recommend.

Easy to mix in drinks 30 seconds and it thickens

Wonderful for thickening soup, sauce, salad dressing, chopped and puréed foods. It expands food options because you can add enough of a broth or other suitable liquid to chop or purée effectively, and then thicken. It doesn't change the flavor of the food. It does, however, change the color of water slightly, and it continues to thicken liquids after it's mixed. The instruction is to discard drinks not consumed within a specific period of time. I found that incredibly wasteful. I realized that "nectar thick" could ultimately become thick enough to stand a straw. I decided to use less, and thicken water and juice the night before so that by morning it would be at peak thickness. I settled on 5 pumps per quart for nectar thick. Make sure to keep the tip of the dispenser pump clean so that it never squirts in unanticipated directions. It's also helpful to depress the plunger slowly and hold the receiving container up close.

This is the same product that our hospital uses. Like how you can adjust the thickenes depending on quantity of fluids
