50 Quart Igloo Yukon Cold Locker Lacks in the Ice Retention Area
Okay, I am wondering about the legitimacy of some of these reviews. I just bought this 50 quart cooler and ran a couple of ice retention tests on it as well as the "flashlight" trick. I have kept it in like new condition because I knew I may want to return it. It is rugged and strong and heavy. My ice tests were done as follows. I cooled the cooler down inside the house under a/c (76 degrees) for 1 day, the night before the test I put loose ice in it and kept it in the house. Next morning, I moved the cooler in to my florida garage where the cooler remained in the shade constantly with temperatures between 78-84 degrees. I added 8 - 16 oz frozen water bottles to the bottom of the cooler, then 22 more "cold" water bottles, then filled it with loose ice right to the top. I opened it only 1 time per day to check it and all the ice was gone 4 full days later. Water still ice cold. 2nd test: 4-5 lbs loose ice placed in the still cold cooler on top of 20 - 16 oz cold water bottles. Then a 20 lb "bag" of ice placed on top with holes in the bottom to let the water flow out. Bagged ice lasted 5 days with me going into it just once every 24 hours. What troubles me is these tests were done under "ideal" controlled conditions, by the book, and I honestly thought ice would last 5-8 days. There is no way this cooler would hold ice for 7-14 days under real life conditions. The flashlight test showed some light around the seal in the cooler, and the drain plug. Oh, and why would the drain plug still leak after all these complaints? This is a $232 cooler!!! If I can get 4-5 days ice retention from a cooler that costs 1/3 to 1/2 as much, this thing is going back!! Shame, because it is a great rugged cooler.cooler that costs 1/3 to 1/2 as much, this thing is going back.

After careful consideration I went with the Igloo Yukon and I am quite pleased. I will not get into the technical stuff
So, I researched coolers for many weeks! I really wanted to by a Yeti but they cost so much money. After careful consideration I went with the Igloo Yukon and I am quite pleased. I will not get into the technical stuff, I just want to tell you all how it worked for me. I used this cooler for a road trip between Seattle and San-Diego. I filled the cooler up with two bags of ice, drinks and some sandwich fixings. With the wire cooler basket purchased separately, it worked perfectly. This cooler is very rugged! I had no concern about it banging around in the back of the truck. The large drain plug is great. Some small ice chunks might flow out if your not careful. Very sturdy handles and clamps that are easy to use. I really only had one issue with this cooler. The ice melted a tad bit quicker than I expected. I might have unreal expectations but I was told there would be ice in this cooler for many days. I guess this is true if you count mostly water with a few ice chunks after 3 or 4 days. I did open the cooler several times a day and it was in the back of my truck in 80 degree temps. This is the only reason I gave it 4 stars. Plus it is still kind of expensive.Overall I am very excited about using this cooler on the boat and on camping trips. Great, Great Cooler!!!

Glad I made this purchase
I had my first camping of the year and took with me the Igloo Yukon. Very Very pleased. Also, checked online to see what the best way to keep a cooler cold for the longest time. I found out if you freeze water bottles they hold things cold the longest. I used unopened water bottles and froze a dozen or more before camping. As I packed the cooler things I didn't need right away put on the bottom with frozen water bottles strategically place. Kept packing and put frozen bottles on top of things that really needed to be kept cool. The reason for the water bottles was that if you run out of water you have backup that just needs to be unthawed. Make sure you put a few frozen bottles on top because cold flows down. After four days with reasonable opening and closing of the cooler, I still had frozen water bottles. I did put a little ice and I mean a little ice on top to help fill some of the voids and never drained it because the cold water helps keep the cooler cold. It was SOOOOO nice not to have to run down to the office and get bags of ice to keep my old cooler cold. This Igloo is one of my best purchases. I did keep the cooler in the shade and temperatures were in the high seventies daytime and high forties at night. It is rather large but nice thick walls and a gasket around the lid to seal nicely. Also comes with the ability to lock it, so bears and other prey can't, or find it very hard to get into. Nothing really for critters to grab onto. Hefty but well WORTH IT!!!!

Excellent heavy-duty cooler.
I installed the Yukon 120 Quart to replace a Yeti 48 Quart to gain additional fish storage. The Yeti was designed to fit in a bracket, but I kept on running out of fish storage space with a 48 Quart. A larger Yeti would take up too much valuable deck space, so I elected to try the Igloo Yukon, which had great reviews. With the Igloo Tie-Down Kit, the Yukon more than doubled my fish storage space while taking up very little addition space. The Tie-Down kit is flush-mounted, stainless steel, and not intrusive into my deck space. The cooler is solid, durable, and very, very secure. The hinges are very heavy-duty, so I feel I will get great longevity I even use the cooler as a casting platform from time to time. The drains for the cooler are very large, so one doesn't have to remove the cooler in order to clean it, and I LOVE that feature. One of the first trips I made, one of the fisherman on my boat landed a couple of small sharks which proceeded to bleed everywhere, including all over the cooler. Of course, by the time I noticed, it had already dried. Cleaning wasn't a problem, however, as I sprayed it down with Clorox cleaning spray, hosed it off, and we were good. I have not noticed ice melting faster than with the Yeti either, and I have been out in Texas Summer heat. Melt rate? Have no idea, but hitting the water at 6:00 AM, getting off after noon, the 20lb bag is 95% intact. That's pretty good.

Amazing cooler for a Pelican/Yeti clone
We have used this three summers now and love it still. Other coolers we went through two bags of ice a day. Other coolers had hinges that broke after a couple years of use. This thing is rock solid and maintains ice decently. This summer it was 37C and we still only added extra ice once or twice in a week. Our "five day" cheap cooler from Igloo was getting ice infusions every day or every other day. Zero issues so far!Price was amazing when I bought this a few years ago, being some $200 cheaper than elsewhere.Pros - Very sturdy. - Saves us money on ice. - Nice mid size cooler. - Walls are not too thick, so it doesn't take a lot of space.Cons - Fairly heavy. Once filled this can be a two man job to lift. - Lid fasteners could be easier to use.

This is a fantastic cooler. Especially love that it keeps frozen food ...
This is a fantastic cooler. Especially love that it keeps frozen food frozen for 4 days providing they are covered in ice. Happy we bought it. Use it at the ocean and fish is perfectly fine when we get home. Would not hesitate to tell anyone to buy it..you wont be sorry.

YETIやORCA、ICELAND。
