Altec Lansing MZX656-BLK Over Ear Foldable Headphones with Mic, Black

The headphones pictured here are exactly what I have been using for years. But what’s pictured here isn’t what I received. There are slight differences in the cushion part that rests on top of your head ( not there ), the shape and thickness of the padding surrounding my ears, and it doesn’t have a removable wire like my original altec headphones . I paid $29.99 for these from Amazon but found a sticker on the box ( from Ross on sale for $9.99 ).

Product was not as advertised. It said that it was foldable and the cord is detachable. However the one that I received is neither of those things. Other that that they work great.

If I could rate this a Zero I would. My son has loved Altec headphones since the first pair I bought. They had excellent sound quality especially for the price and they lasted a long time. I cannot say this anymore. This is actually the 2nd pair I bought because I got absolutely nowhere trying to replace the ones we received with the first order. The 1st order sent the wrong color and the wire didn’t work at all. We tried many times to contact the seller for replacements and kept getting an auto-generated email referring me to a website but the website gave you no option whatsoever to request a refund or replacement. We also tried contacting the warranty since we always get that and was unable to get anywhere there either. Since we had such good luck in the past and hoping it was a fluke, I ordered another set - this set’s wire shorted within 2 weeks of having them. And again, we had no luck with contacting the seller or the warranty we bought as well.

I purchased these in August 2015. They stopped working properly (defective cord; sound plays on only one side) in January 2016, and I was able to exchange them through Amazon. The new ones that I received in February 2016 stopped working properly again (same issue as before) as of yesterday, 5/23/2016. According to Amazon the window to return/replace the 2nd pair closed on 3/4/2016. Very disappointing. Also, the microphone stopped working properly about 2 months ago.

these have great sound and great bass and are comfortable, but they are a tighter fit (which i like)

Just recieved my Altec. Item is exactly as it states. Works very well. I have purchased 200$ beats and the only thing they have a tad advantage over is the Bass. For 30$ it is a must have. Beats/Apple is ripping you off.

I didn't buy it from Amazon because there were no reviews & I managed to get a Live Demo of this headphone at Croma (someone returned it), so I bought a new one from there at Rs.3015/-. I listen to music on Fiio X1 with Audio Technica ATH IM50 in-ear phones, any headphone enthusiast would know about sound signature of Audio Technica. For last one year I have been using this IM50 but I wanted to use over the ear headphone; so I thought I would go for ATH M30x, it has excellent reviews on every tech site.I was confused between Philips SHL 3300, ATH M30x & this one. Though there is not a single review or even a little discussion about this headphone, I wanted to buy this one but definitely not before listening to them. Philips had amazing reviews too, luckily I got to use this vs.Philips 3300 at Croma. Philips 3300 is pretty good buy at 2000/- given the build quality & design of it, but when I heard this Altec Lansing, I realized that its a mistake to even think of Philips against this one(Not that Philips 3300 is bad or anything). HUGE difference in sound quality, that one can immediately recognize, you dont have to be an audiophile to tell the difference. I have used PC Speakers from Altec Lansing & loved them too, so I was not worried much about investing in their headphones. They are loud but very clean sound...I am sure natural burning (regular use) will make them even better.Body construction is very good, metallic headband coated with rubberized plastic and it has soft leather cushion. Earcups are big enough and comfortable, looks very good when worn. Cups don't look like they are protruding outwards. Out of 9 Pros I mentioned below, top 5 were basic expectation from headphones, last 4 are simply added bonus.Pros:Wide Sound Stage (not very wide but I can say airy)Superb sound isolationInstrument separation (you can listen and actually track each instrument)Vocals have smooth curve, not shrewd at allBass is tight, absolutely in line like I was expecting out of Altec LansingRemovable Flat Cable with 3.5mm jacks on both endsMIC with button to Play/Pause tracksBest part is that both ear cups have 3.5mm connector so you can connect cable on right or left side as per your likingFoldable design, very compact with a carry bagCons:So far found none, even after using for 2 weeks.I am not being a fanboy to Altec Lansing or justifying my purchase, I just found what I wanted. So sharing my experience with people who may want to buy this one but shy away as there's no word about it. If you are thinking of buying a headphone, should go for this.

i bought these for my neice to wear around the house so she doesnt interupt my sister as she works from home , and in the two weeks she has had them , they are already glitching and not working properly. hopefully they are an exception to the rest of the headphones they make , as i am going to exchange them.

I've used this headphones before, they sound great. But I received a broken piece in the package. Can hear rattling sounds coming from the headphones if I shake it as if somethings broken inside.

The headphones have a very flat bass and more treble oriented. The fit is a bit small if you have a normal sized head even after fully extending it.

Good bulit in quality compare to sony headphones.
