OM Digital Solutions J500 Microcassette Recorder

Loved the quality was brand new excellent condition came in original packaging with instructions and everything complete the recorder works perfectly and recording and playback is exceptional sound volume and clarity of recording is phenomenal the simplicity and ease of use compared to digital is no comparison. one of the better purchases I have made .

Our office still uses the microcassette recorders. They are hard to find, but when we do, we prefer the Olympus recorders. They last longer than other brands and have a better sound quality.

purchased the tape recorder (refurbished and the sound when turned up all the way you could barely hear , so the sound was defiantly broken

I use minicassette recorders on interviews a lot, and this one is a great recorder for the price. It's small enough to fit in a shirt pocket (and nicely slim as well), and the ergonomics are good: easy to play back, fast-forward, etc. It has all the basic controls you need. I can't speak for the sound relative to others, but for voice, it's more than good enough. It picks up voices quite distinctly even in a relatively noisy environment. I also like the battery indicator, so I always know when I need to bring extra batteries, which last a pretty long time. I also can't speak for reliability, but I've had no problems in the six months I've been using it. The only caveats are that the microphone/earphone jack is smaller than ones used by other recorders, so you need an adapter or a mike/earphone with small plugs, and that it doesn't come with an AC power supply. But overall, it's great.

I purchased about 2 weeks ago this Olympus J500 Microcassette Recorder at a great price from Amazon for my friend who is visually impaired, after his old recorder broke. I have suggested that he move away from cassettes to digital and, while he is planning to do so he has all of his written work on cassettes and just needs one more recorder to help him transition to digital. I told him to carefully check the functioning of the device since there is no clear warranty. So far, he said the quality of this Olympus product is excellent! Thanks for having this product available at such a great price!

Recorder has functioned very well under heavy daily use. I like the battery level indicator. Great feature. No more running into problems as battery runs down. Very sensitive microphone as well.
