The Starrs are out tonight
This is not a new Anthology. I bought it in 2001 and still listen to it often. Ringo did what a lot of people fantisize about. Well, he's probably done that, too, but I meant bringing together some of rock's greatest for a superband tour. Over the years, his line-up changed, but with this anthology he picks the creme de la creme (I've always wanted to use that in a sentence). Most of these stars of yesteryear wouldn't sell out venues anymore, even if their former groups were still performing together, but together it's like a greatest hits of the 70's love-fest.I admit that you will have to suffer through some of Ringo's singing, but I've always loved It Don't Come Easy and Back Off Boogaloo. With a Little Help From My Friends has special meaning when performed by a super group. Oh, and to make it a family affair, Zak Starkey plays drums with daddy Ringo. You have Randy Bachman doing BTO songs as well as from the Guess Who, with the help of Burton Cummings.Joe Walsh and Timothy B. Schmidt give up some Eagles tunes like I Can't Tell You Why and Desperado.Felix Cavaliere was still Groovin'. Peter Frampton (doing that mouth wa-wa thing) comes along with Simon Kirke (from Free), Eric Carmen who sez he's All By Myself.... but since he's followed by Whith a Little Help From My Friends, I don't believe it. Gary Brooker plays some Procol Harum and you'll hear from Todd Rundgren, David Edmunds, Nils Lofgren, Billy Preston, Levon Helm (The Band), Rick Danko, John Entwistle (The Who), Dr. John, Jack Bruce and Mark Farner(Grand Funk). Some of these greats are now in rock and roll heaven, but Ringo Starr and his All Star Band has been giving us back a piece of heaven for years

Ringo The Moocher
Gotta give Peter Criss ( former drummer of KISS ) credit for never releasing any music that reminds you that he was once part of a successful band. Unfortunately Ringo has no such filter. In fact, he has been very successful not only riding on the coattails of other people’s success while in the Beatles, he’s been even more successful as a solo artist for the past 50 years vs 8 with the band. To me, Ringo is the welfare queen that cashes a lot of unearned and unmerited checks, and drives a Cadillac . And this double CD is undeniable proof that he’s nothing but a parasite.
