Not quite pro, but not junk either.
Right now it seems to be down between a Mafia or a Framed BMX for those looking for a quality BMX on a budget. I'm mostly indifferent between the two, except in that Mafia bikes are more affordable. Ok, if you want a chromolly frame you're still going to pay up for it, but looking at their base offerings and Mafia comes out ahead. I chose this one because it was the most inexpensive that at least has a 3 piece crank. No need to cheapen out too much. Plus I love a bright & loud color such as the yellow frame here. It claims it's for off road riding, but it holds up to your basic tricks too, just wouldn't recommend going too hard on it.Ultimately I see both Framed and Mafia BMX bikes as being intermediate between a pro bike (Stolen, Sunday, Fit, Kink, etc) and a department store bike (Mongoose, Genesis, Kent, etc) and the price tends to reflect that. Sure at $120 for their stripped down, core basic model it becomes very comparable to a department store bike. But 2 things. First, it's more than worth it to step up to the $150 model, for a number of reasons, and second, everything about how Mafia & Framed presents their bikes vs department store bikes should separate them right there. Department store bikes get you flashy add ons & extras that you don't really need and cheapen out on the overall quality. A bike like Framed or Mafia gives you an appearingly basic bike, which is kinda true, but with much better quality parts. I'd still recommend a Sunday or Kink BMX bike over this easily, but at the same time, these are also less than half the price, perhaps even a third of the price, and are still respectable quality, just not amazing quality.
