All-American Ads 50s Paperback – 31 Mar. 2003

I thought it would be half the size both in width and pages but mighty heavens was I wrong! For such a low price the book is massive and great quality for your buck.If you like american ads I would NOT hesitate to buy this book.

It's Taschen, of COURSE it's good quality, it's great! This is a massive book packed full of quality prints which allude to a different world, both in the design of the ads themselves and of course the consumer market for which these ads were intended. If you like retro design, get this book. An insightful and informative snapshot into a lost world...

Some great ads in this book. I remember the 50's over here and it was a time of austerity, not so in America looking through this book. They were so more advanced than we were in what seemed to be everyday life. We were still rationed up to the mid 50's - an interesting read and comparison if you remember that period.

I would like to say a big thank you to Pageturners for the quality of this book, it is in perfect condition, it did arrive later than I thought it would, but the post office here is not the best, but of course it did arrive in the dates given. Once again thank you. Tom Young.

My friend is a designer (with a liking for all things 50's). This massive book of ideas suited him perfectly. It came quickly from Germany and was exactly as described. In great condition.

Super coffee table book that is a great inspiration to all designers, graphic artists and historians.Lovingly produced and absolutely filled with nostalgic adverts.It is quite heavy.

On reading quite a bit about this book online before ordering, I was convinced that All American Ads of the 50s so thoroughly matched my interests that it was going to be the last book I would have to buy for a while, and certainly the last book on this subject. --Wouldn't it be nice if life really WAS that simple? This book is the ultimate vault of old ad gold, and one is hesitant to criticize at all. But...The one thing about All American Ads that really bugs me is the big grainy blowups that fill too many spreads here. The full page ads are joys forever. But jumping back and forth between creamy, crisp, photographically reduced perfection of reproduction on one hand, and overextended, grainy enlargements of detail on the other makes for a somewhat disjoint experience.This one gripe aside, it is a book you absolutely MUST have if you care about old ads and old popular and sociopolitical culture.
