If you have darker hair choose a different shade
I love this brand. This is also my ideal shade- but unless you have platinum blond I really recommend getting a shade like magenta, looking like a unicorn for a week then enjoy the shade you actually want for 3 weeks. This color will look cute for maybe a week if you have a dirty blond/light brown shade.

More perfume than dye: 2 days of pink, 7 days of stink
I have used similar semi-permanent dyes like Manic Panic and Punky Colour many times in the past, am familiar with the process of using these types of dyes, and have been pleased with the results from those brands. I opted for Lime Crime's Unicorn Hair in Sext because I was looking for a dusty rose shade to create a "rose gold" effect on bleached highlights. The first thing I noticed upon opening the container was an extremely strong, pungent, perfumey fragrance emanating from the jar. This surprised me, as I am used to the very mild, neutral scents of other vegetable dyes like Manic Panic. I see that Lime Crime claims their product has a vanilla scent and although the fragrance may contain a synthetic vanilla note, the overall effect is a very intense, drugstore "perfume" scent. I cannot overstate how strong and persistent the scent was: it took a full week for the scent to fade, and the first three days I felt suffocated by a thick miasma of cheap perfume - almost like I had dunked my head in a vat of a knock-off of Poison by Dior. Over the next several days, it transitioned to a scented doll head fragrance and then eventually to an insect repellent type scent. The color, on the other hand, was gone after two washes.I had applied the color to clean, dry hair that was free of all product (including conditioner), covered with a plastic cap, and let it sit for an hour. Upon rinsing out the dye, I was left with the faintest pink tint in the highlighted sections of my hair. The tint was only visible in very bright light and not otherwise noticeable.I would only recommend this product to someone who was looking for an extremely subtle color for a one-day, well-lit, outdoor event - like an outdoor, daytime wedding - and who can tolerate strong scents. I would not recommend this product for anyone planning to spend time indoors in the company of other people in the first three days after use; I think it would trigger migraines for those with fragrance/chemical sensitivities.

It's a Tint
This is a tint, so understand that it's not supposed to color your hair for a long period of time. It's not going to be a deep color. It's really only going to work well on platinum hair, otherwise some colors will look weird or not even show up at all. I suggest using a semi permanent dye if you want deep long lasting color. To make sure it does not come out patchy, use it on washed, unconditioned, dry hair, and make sure to saturate well by combing it through. Leave it in for at least 30 mins, but I leave it in for up to 4 hours. I use tints because they don't stain my hair, and I can change the color often without bleach washing. If I don't like the color, it washes out quickly. The scent is strong and may be unpleasant to some, so make sure to rinse it out well.

This one color “sext” is off-do a strand test
I will start by saying I have tried 4 other lime crime colors in the past few months and they are generally fantastic , and they have always shown up very close to the colors on the box. I was very excited for this color, I didn’t think I needed a strand test as my hair was a level 9/10 and in ok condition . I did a split dye with “mochi” on the other part of my head. “Sext” is a smokier pink on the box, but it turned mostly light patchy brown with a hint of red on my hair. It was on for 3 hours, just like the mochi side at the same time. The mochi side looks awesome. I am very unhappy with the “sext” color, it looks terrible in real life ( not sure the pic captures it) . I now have a brownish and purple split dye instead of the pink and purple and it is gross looking. Still trying to figure out the best way to fix it, either a gentle color remover or maybe putting a brighter pink over it. Learn from my mistake, do a strand test or at least a swatch to see how the “smokier” colors come out for you. I am very disappointed and will be looking into other brands of dye for my next look.***update** did some vitamin c treatments (my usually pretty effective way to remove semi/demi permanent colors) and they took all the remaining pink out and now I am left with a horrid green mud color. Not the kind of color you can leave the house with, I’m going to have to try to fix it again ASAP. I guess it has strong green or blue mixed in there as an undertone. I didn’t have problems with removing other colors from this line. I would strongly suggest not using the color “sext” , or if you risk it please do a strand test for the love of all that is holy! Off to find a new color that may cover the current “swamp” situation.

Got a bad batch I guess.
I ordered the sext dusty rose color. Delivery was great. No issues. Opened the jar, and took pause as there was a crusty residue on the rim of jar. Briefly considered sending it back, but convinced myself it was probably no big deal. I've used lime crime tints before without issues so I trusted the brand and product. I applied the product and left it for almost 2 hours. I washed it out(with cold water) and was really disappointed because the color didn't take all that well. I blamed myself for getting one jar and ordered 2 more from the lime crime website instead of Amazon because of the crusting before. I washed my hair again today 3 days later (with a gentle, natural shampoo without parables and sulfates) and not only did my color completely wash out, certain areas of my hair has turned green. 🙃 and I can't figure out why. There's no pink at all, just a muddy green and my hair is several shades darker than it originally was which I expected since it was a darker color. So now I'm worried the jars I bought are going to be wasted because my hair isn't light enough for the color to take properly. It isn't healthy enough right now to lighten. Is there a way to strip this color out without bleach? 🤔 I'm so sad this has happened because I love lime.crime tints and really believe I just got a bad jar.

Washes out really fast
Then again I have really thin hair, so someone more experienced would know if that matters. Otherwise I love this stuff.

Turns bleached hair green after one wash
Not only did it not come out like the colour its supposed to ( my hair was very light blonde) it has also ruined my hair by turning it green just after 1 wash. I wish I could get a refund as now I will have to spend more money and ruin my hair even further to try and get the green out of my hair by bleaching it again.

N’achetez pas
Au début c’était beau, la coloration sent bon MAIS après un seul lavage la couleur tourne au vert ! Je ne recommande pas.

Pleasantly Suprised
So hair was bleached, but alot of the roots were yellow (mix of level 8 and 9) and couldn't get them to lift to match the ends which were a 10. So I gave up with the bleaching for a while and decided to go for colour. This is only a tint so this will suit me for a few weeks (I don't wash my hair often anyway as its dry and I try to keep the natural oils in as much as possible).First thing to note was that it's a little difficult and messy to decant to a tinting bowl. You will need gloves to put it on with but none are supplied. The smell isn't bad, slight chemical smell like you'd get with nail polish but it's not overwhelming or off putting. The pack says more than one jar for thin hair longer than a bob (shorter than shpulders). My hair goes past my shoulders by about 2 inches and thin and one pot was plenty to thoroughly saturate my hair with about to handfuls left over. It's also recommended for bleached/platinum hair. So dont expect great results on anything darker. It goes on nicely and the colour has come out nicer than expected. Recommendation is to leave on for 45 mins or 1 -2 hours for a more intense colour. I left it on for 55 mins.Might try the other colours sometime but they are not exactly cheap.
