How is the quality of the chrome on Sunlite handlebars? Do they nick and rust easily like most other aftermarket chrome Stingray parts?

I put a pair on my Shwinn cruiser when both were brand new. Waxed everything. Now, several years later, all the chrome on the bike is rusted... Except for the handle bars.

How wide are the bars between the handles at the top?

I don't remember. I sold the bike but I did like the bar's.
