Beautiful, light weight, exactly what I was looking for

Greenland Home 3 Piece Marley Quilt Set, King I really loved the look of this quilt! It looks exactly like that shown in the photos. The quilt was generous in size and it fit our king-sized bed beautifully. The colors are rich and beautiful, and the quilt has a nice weight to it. Also, my purchase arrived faster than I expected, and was packaged well, so I was pleased with my order.My only disappointment is with the fabric used - specifically the gorgeous plum colored fabric - as it is very thin and easily tears. In fact, the fabric is virtually "see-thru" due to how thin it is. I loved the idea that this quilt was reversible and looked forward to switching quilt sides periodically, but now I seriously doubt I'll be able to since the backing uses this extremely thin plum fabric as well - hence the reason for this 3-star rating.When I inserted my pillow into the pillow sham, the opening was quite small and ultimately caused the fabric to tear through quite easily despite my best efforts at being careful. (I don't have finger nails, nor do I wear sharp jewelry, so neither caused this tear.)A week later, I noticed as small rip in the very same (plum) fabric on the quilt top itself, which I ended up sewing to prevent it from getting bigger. I have no idea what caused this rip. At first, I thought a small white piece of cotton was on top of the quilt, but upon closer inspection, it was actually a tear with the batting showing through! If the fabric is so thin that it tears this easily, I'm afraid of what will happen when it needs to be cleaned!I paid a little over $100 for this set, so I'd expect the material strength to be much sturdier than it is. We don't have children, nor do we have pets, and we're careful when making the bed. I'd expected to get a durable quilt for the price I paid. I've had quilts and comforters that I've purchased from "discount" stores that never tore and lasted years despite repeated washings. However, I seriously doubt that will be the case with this one. It's really sad because it is a truly beautiful quilt set, and I was hoping that by spending more I'd receive something of quality that was durable and would last many years.I would not recommend purchasing this quilt at all. For the price, it's just not worth it.Updated October 24, 2017: I've included images of the quilt for this review. The first photo shows the tear that I sewed up on the quilt's front. The second photo shows how thin the fabric is on the reverse side. The third photo shows a detail of how see-thru and thin the plum fabric is. The final photo shows the other tear on located on the sham's back where the pillow was inserted. Hopefully, these photos will add credence to my review.

For the price, the quality is great, because no one would guess this was less than 100 dollars. I am not saying it is premium quality, because it's not, but I would say it's an A-, which is fabulous because it's at a D+ price. A premium quality quilt runs 600 to 1200 dollars, and so for the 85 dollars I spent for this, I am actually impressed with the overall quality. It is a medium weight, but it is 100 % cotton fabric and 100% cotton batting. Which is fantastic. It clearly is prewashed, so it looks "quilty" right out of the package, you know that sort of wrinkled soft look that is so inviting about quilts. The colors are dead on what the pic shows. They are extremely vibrant and it is cheerful and homey. As far as fit, I have a sleep number M7, which is a deep mattress about 14 inches deep. It covers both sides of the mattress to the top of my sleigh bed wood side rails and there is plenty at the foot and head. If it shrinks, it may be short side to side, but out of the package it is not too short. For a purple lover, or a teen girl, the purple side is gorgeous because it's deep hue and extra thick white stitching, with the stripes on the under side. I however did not buy it for the purple and have it stripes up. It brings a lot of color to my bedroom, without screaming at you and because the colors are vibrant but earthy tones it's soothing and restful. Overall, I am very pleased with this purchase. I bought two of the throws to use for curtain side panels, that I will pair with solids once I decide what color solid I want.

I just got this quilt today. I washed it, dried it & put it on my bed. Every time I touch it I wonder why I didn't buy it 2 years ago. It's so nice & soft & quite pretty. The colors are vibrant & bold. The stitching seems good. It had a lot of lint on it out of the package, I assume from the batting inside during the quilting process. Lots of it came out in the dryer and none remained on the external fabric. I didn't rate the durability, because I just got it, so I can't say how well it will hold up. I have bought other quilts from this company, Greenland Home & they have been exceptional in how well they've held up over the years. I expect this one to do the same. I am very happy with this item & I would certainly buy it again. The only negative thing I can say about it is that the backs of the pillow shams kind of hold up the typical meaning of the word sham. They back is purple, like the back of the quilt, but it's just plain, super-lightweight cotton with ties at the middle split on the sham. The front is quilted & nice. If you look inside the sham, you can see the batting. I was expecting maybe an attached lining but there isn't. I don't care all that much about the shams, but overall they could be a little better quality. I would be happy with this quilt if it didn't even come with shams. So it's all good.

As previous reviewers have reported, this is a beautiful quilt set with notable flaws. The plum coloured fabric is quite thin. The panels are crooked and the seams are irregularly sewn, with several patches of bunched up white stitching clearly visible. I am keeping this item because the design is unusual and lovely, but I would not recommend buying it at full price.
