Our Low Profile Magnetic Drain Plug is made from highly resistant hardened steel making it an excellent choice. Its low profile reduces the risk of being hit when off-roading avoiding expensive damages that can occur when using the OEM plugs. 6mm Allen wrench needed. May be compatible with other motorcycles.

Use 2mm washers and it will seal fine
Okay, put this on my 2000 KLR650. Went on fine but leaked oil every so slightly. I tried different crush washers but nope still leaked. Then I thought that it might be the thickness of the crush wasers weren't enough. So I ordered up genuine Kawasaki 92065-097, put one in and no more leak. The Kawasaki ones are 2mm thick, inside diameter 12mm and OD 22mm. I would stick to either OEM or a washer with 2mm thickness also make sure you torque it to your spec, my 2000 calls for 16.5 ft. lbs.Other than the sealing issue I like it and its low profile! Good plug.Oh uses 6mm allen (if it doesn't say elsewhere!)

Great! I think it Saved my butt as my stock (plastic) skid plate (on the KLR 650) got smashed during an off road trip and that think took a lot of beating. If i had the original plug, it probably would have broke. Now i switched to an aluminum skid plate so i don't need it so much anymore. Unless i smash the aluminum plate some day? I doubt it.

If you ever take your KLR 650 off road you really need this oil drain plug. I have an aluminum skid plate on my bike and these are still absolutely necessary. If you don't think you need them just google picture of bikes with destroyed motors from the factory drain plug catching on a rock and breaking the case. If you only ride on road you don't need this at all.

The item I received was slightly different than the one pictured in a good way. In addition to the Allen key hole it has a bolt fitting so it can be tightened with a socket wrench. It can be a little difficult to tighten with a socket wrench because of the low profile, but that's by design. You'll just need to be careful when tightening and loosening. My KLR was leaking oil slightly and after and oil change and replacement with this plug, it is no longer leaking. I'll have to see how it holds up but I'd recommend.

Yes its low profile and so is less likely to be sheared off during off road adventures. But the internal Allen-hex is a sloppy fit on the Allen wrench and seems to become more sloppy with use.Magnet is very strong, expect to see "fuzz" on it with each oil change.

Buy This for your KLR!
A KLR must have upgrade. You want that oil pan bolt to be low profile so it doesent get snagged and destroy your crank case and this one is also magnetic to get those shavings out of the oil. a handsome stainless bolt. Thanks AE motorsports!

The only complaint is that it does not quite fit my 1995 KLR 650. The space allowed on the bottom of the engine casing has a smaller diameter than the top of this bolt. I had to add nearly a 1/4" worth of spacers to make this fit and not leak. Just FYI

well made works great
works great lowers the profile of the vulnerable KLR plug. I just changed the oil for the 1 st time and the magnet had some extremely fine filings stuck to it. worked great. I recommend this plug for all KLR owners.
