So i bought these to go on a tree outside for Xmas to be connected via a smart plug and added on Alexa to be part of a group that switched on and off automatically.The lights are very colourful and the 8 different effects are also good. They are well made and i actually have a similar style for a dresser in the kitchen.The issues are 3 fold.firstly i would not trust these to be powered by a plug in an outdoor setting. You have to plug in a USB style end to a charger of some sort and they a round adapter into what would be a battery pack! this is in no way waterproof and there is zero information supplied to warn of this.Additionally there is zero info to tell you not to use batteries if powering from a socket!My 2nd issue is the distance for the remote. Anymore than 10ft and its useless so dont buy these if you are planning on using them any further away from your house than that! I'm serious about this as well... you have to be almost on top of the box for it to work.My final issue is the fact that you have to physically turn the lights on from the battery box if you are using it via a smart plug ! once the power is turned off at the socket, the design of the on/off switch is such that if the power goes off its not in an 'on' state, which completely defeats my objective.For £15.99 if you are using them in doors, then yes, go for it. For an outdoor situation, avoid and buy something else.

Much better than expected and battery lasts for ages but the case got swamped out in the frost.

So far, really happy with the quality and the option of UBS or battery option is a bonus.

Very bright lights, recommend for garden. Perfect for Christmas. Only downside is remote control, you have to be beside the lights for it to work. Highly recommend overall.

I bought the multi-coloured version of this product.These lights have 8 modes, selectable via the supplied remote or via the push button on the main unit.7 of these modes are head-ache inducing, annoying flashing with no subtlety at all.Mode 8 (static) gives some respite from the chaos!! This mode is pleasant and the lights look pretty with their various colours, however they are not all the same brightness in the static mode - a few are much dimmer than others.Which brings me on to their brightness changing ability!...Any change of brightness demanded (via the remote) causes all the lights to flash off then on again violently - there is no smooth transition between any brightness change. So that lovely static mode ultimately becomes disturbing flashing if you want to (subtlety?) change the brightness.I'm not a huge fan of flashing modes on lights like these but sometimes I'm pleasantly surprised by the subtle way lights can fade in and out - slowly! Well not with these I'm afraid.Something else to bare in mind...The advertising has gone to great lengths to emphasise the water-proofing of the case, which appears to be sound. However, as soon as that USB power plug is inserted in the socket on the casing (this has a rubber plug in it during battery use) then you lose that waterproofing. There is no seal around the plug and water will definitely get in!Not that I would expect to operate this with the main box outdoors on USB power myself, but some might think that's OK and then suffer failed electronics.Anyway returning for a refund because of the functionality of the modes and brightness changing.I'm awarding 2 stars because they look OK in static mode if you don't change the brightness!

I did buy these with the view at putting them up for Xmas, but I didn’t like the pastel shades for that time of year, I guess I like the bright greens, blues, reds etc. However I will be using them in my tent and for festivals for the summer as I think they are more suited for that. But it is personal choice. But they do look nice.
