DSD TECH SH-U11L USB to RS485 RS422 Cable with FTDI FT232 Chip-1.5M/5FT

I’m using this on a VM running Win11 Arm under VMWare Fusion on an M3 Mac.This currently requires downloading and manually installing the Windows (Desktop) ARM driver from https:ftdichip.com/drivers/vcp-drivers/This zip file contains drivers for the hardware device and also the Virtual Com Port. Both need to be installed.After that it works great, even with really old software. The device has LEDs for power, TX, and RX; very helpful for debugging.

Terminal screws are tiny so make sure you've got a very small screwdriver. Solidly built. Works like a charm.

The reason I ordered this device was to use it for a IEI Proxpad plus connected to the HubMan software. The IEI 485 to usb part is not available anywhere. It works great. Also the price was another reason. The IEI product cost 112$!!!

Seems like only older MacOS versions might work with this; Catalina definitely does not, and also reminds you the driver is doing things that will not be supported in future releases, even though it didn't work to begin with. I will say that a Raspberry Pi 4 with even the lite install detects it find and it works great; hence three starts instead of less.

Screw terminals are flimsy and break easily, won't stand up to frequent wire swaps, also cheap plastic housing fell apart. Works fine otherwise though.

I have two of those connected to a Victron Cerbo GX. Connected to the interfaces are, one each, two Power Meters from Victron ET340. It worked immediately without any configuration. Plug and Play.The meters have all the same address, so each meter needs an own interface.

Lo he usado para conectar con un variador Omron por RS422 y va genial, sólo he tenido que añadir un trozo de cable con un RJ45 y tengo un cable de comunicación por una décima parte de lo que vale el original de Omron.
