Great RAM for the price - works in Synology NAS
Bought an 8GB stick for my Synology DS216+II NAS. Wasn't sure it would work but has made an amazing difference to performance.

i used this to upgrade an older computer !
Hi there. This was used to upgrade an older computer on which i am now running Linux Debian. The computer is now so much more responsive it feels as a different device. i highly recommend. And obviously upgrading an older machine keeps it from the landfill...a certain duty towards the Earth !

Perfect for upgrading an old A8-based Toshiba laptop that was dog slow.
So, my dad had me take a look at his old laptop to update the OS, and such. While I was in there, being the tech guy I am, I swapped out the HDD for a new SSD I had lying around and upgraded the RAM in it, 'cause it was just being a slow, dead dog of a system with the old mechanical HDD & barely sufficient 4GB RAM.Anyway, long and short of it, I bought a matched pair of these 8GB PC3L [low power DDR3] SO-DIMMs [laptop memory, by-and-large], and swapped out the 4GB for 16GB. Then I cloned the 500GB HDD to a 500GB SSD, and swapped that in, and now it's off to the races. Boots in about 10 seconds, and is pretty snappy and responsive. Now it's just AMD A8 CPU-bound for the most part, rather than being HDD/RAM bound. By and large it performs quite nicely now.Swapped in the ram, restarted, and it pretty much just booted right in, no errors or issues. For the money, it's a great value, IMO. Don't know the brand, per se. I mean it's not Kingston, Micron, Samsung, etc. But, to some degree, RAM is RAM, as long as it works and meets spec. As far as I can tell, the memory seemed to run fine and had no issues / glitches / blue screens indicating any DOA issues, etc.So, it served its purpose. And since I ordered through Amazon, it arrived in all of like a day or two. Though I could have gotten it in 1 day if I'd not missed the midnight cutoff by like 3 minutes while I was checking on this and that. But that's an Amazon fulfillment thing and shouldn't reflect negatively on the RAM itself, which works fine as far as I can tell and seemed perfectly fit for purpose. And since it's PC3L [low power], if I recall correctly it's capable of running at like 1.35v but can also run at the full 1.5v in systems that aren't low-power. So, it's like dual-voltage, or whatever, so should work in either low-voltage or regular voltage laptops and such. Can't comment on gaming performance, as that's not the purpose of this laptop, but presumably it'll work just fine in a gaming laptop. If I recall correctly it's CL11 which is reasonably fast timings or whatever? Doubt if anyone will ever really notice the difference between that and like CL9 or whatever? But, who knows?Anyway, worked fine for the purpose it was purchased for. So, yay for that. Breathed some new life into an old dinosaur of a laptop [along with the SSD, which probably honestly does a lot of the heavy lifting and is more impactful than the RAM; but bumping up to the full 16GB of RAM helps too].

Funcionando OK.
