Not the hardest we've ever done, but close.
This is NOT for every fan of Doctor Who! It IS for fans who have jigsaw puzzle experience and great patience. We have put together many puzzles in our time and the only puzzle we have ever done that was harder was a 1000 piece puzzle that wasn't interlocking and had no picture (an antique). This took a month of steady work by the two of us. No two pieces are alike in color and content but they are so similar it's maddening. The various shapes and sizes make it impossible to put a piece in the wrong place. A big plus. (We had one like that once.) The picture is much too small and lacks detail. Areas that look black are not but have many subtle color differences. Before we put it away for another day, we will take several high resolution, well lit photos, print them out and put them in the box. Otherwise, I doubt we'd ever do it again. It is a great picture. There should be be a print suitable for framing. Good luck!

Plan to be in it for the long haul!
I got this puzzle around my birthday in October. It's March, and I finally finished it! Granted, I didn't work on it for about a month because of travel, but still.First things first: This is truly an INSANE puzzle! Really, I'm not just making this up. Read all previous reviews to see the range of difficulties. Now for some tips and hints:- There's no rhyme or reason to ANYTHING in this puzzle! You think you're working on the edges, but no, there's tons of other border-like pieces in the 1000 pieces thrown in there to confuse you. And confused, you will be!- The pieces are insanely cut. Some HUGE, some tiny, some I'd never seen before in other puzzles. This makes it very difficult to match by size and location. So if you're looking for two pieces for one area, you're in fact, looking for one piece, not two. That get really frustrating.- There are few colors in the puzzle, and some differ by pattern and hue, but sometimes the differences are too subtle to see.- You need very good light, preferably natural light to highlight differences. I had a dedicated lamp for this, but it didn't really help when it came to pieces that were closely matched.- You need a dedicated space to work on this for a while. You're in it for the long haul, so get yourself comfortably settled in, have some good music or background TV, wine, and chill out as you're working on it.- Don't expect that every session will result in progress. There were plenty of hours that I worked on it, and the most I could accomplish was to fit 2-3 pieces and re-sort the colors.- You will be doing a LOT of sorting and re-sorting along the way.- The best tip I got on here was to actually start from the center and work outwards. Start with the tardises since their blues are unique along with some of the white around them.- Once you're done with the tardises, you'll need to match pieces based on patterns and then colors, not the other way around. You'll see what I mean when you start working on it.- You'll be spinning the puzzle around a lot to get from side to side. When i first got this puzzle, I nearly threw it away. But, after coming on here, and realizing that I'm in it for the long haul, I just relaxed and tried to enjoy the process. When I finished it, I felt great accomplishment! Yes, there are many better things i could have been doing with my time, but it really helped in relaxing at the end of the day and at night instead or watching TV.Best of luck to you if you choose to pick up this puzzle. It's NOT easy, but the finished product is very rewarding.

No really I love the exploding tardis painting
I was trying to wait on a review until I finished this, but------Yep, I am in the same boat as many of the reviewer....I read the reviews before I bought this and totally blew them off...it's a puzzle how hard can it be you big babies....I was wrong... you were right...this puzzle REALLY makes me twitch.Generally I will get a puzzle that is 750-1000 pieces and work on it for a few days here and there. You know an hour or so with morning coffee, a couple hours before bed.... within a week or less it is done--- yay * pat on the back*THIS puzzle has totally killed that!No really I love the exploding tardis painting. I planned on putting this together and framing it for my Tardis themed living room, but at this point I don't even know if I am going to get it put together because it has been a huge trial.I am not one that generally gives up on a challenging puzzle, but this one really takes the cake. Even just doing the border is a challenge because of the odd cut of the pieces and the colors in the painting. Several pieces can fit into more than one spot and it is very difficult to figure out what goes where.I could handle the complexity of the picture and number of pieces, if it wasn't cut in such a random pattern.....My brain hurts.....must ...finish...stupid ....puzzle.....

Absolutely loved watching his frustration
Bought this for my dad and he said it was the biggest pain to put together. Absolutely loved watching his frustration. In the end he said he's happy he did it, but would never again.
