Works very well, even for someone who's never hung slab doors.
I'm a very DIY kind of person, but usually, I'm hanging doors with a casing. I purchased two high-end waterfall glass french doors to go in a pre-cased side room off my MB. And I knew that if I screwed up the hinges, I would be throwing away $800 dollars. So, after arguing with HD that I knew exactly what sized doors I needed, I went looking for a hinge guide and found these.Long story short, I didn't mess up a single hinge either on the door or on the casing. However, note that this kit DOES come with a router bit which works just fine. So, don't go out and buy another one like I did.The only thing that's a little tricky is that the guides are bigger than the actual cutout--I assume to accommodate for the thickness of the router bit. So if you're mortising into a pre-hung casing, you have to measure fifteen times and cut once to make sure you're accurately spacing out the hinge mortises on the casing, to fit the distances between the mortises on the door. I had to chisel out a 1/8th of an inch on two hinges on each door, but that was easily hidden with some putty and paint.

Works great, even on 1 3/4" doors, unlike the jigs from Homedepot
Bought a jig at Homedepot and the packaging didn't say that it is only for 1 3/8" thick doors. Became frustrated. Checked Lowes and Homedepot--nothing for 1 3/4" unless you order it(which takes forever, or at least a few days). Looked on Amazon, found a jig that will work, ordered with Prime, got it the next day, hung the new door perfectly thanks to this Milescraft jig that works for 4" hinges and doors 1 3/4" doors (it works for 1 3/8" doors too and has a bunch of templates for other types hinges, etc). Now I'm very happy. But still mad at Homedepot. This jig is easy to use, I have never hung a door before, let alone replace a door to an existing frame and hinges. The jig cut the hinge space(mortise I think) perfectly and made the job easy. In fact, I had my 17 year old son do some of the work so he can learn to use a jig, router, his brain, hands, etc.

Plastic Inserts are Warped.
The design is flawless, the execution is less so. The plastic inserts need to be made so that they are not warped. The warping prevents the jig from being as accurate in depth as it could be. Press down on one end of the plastic, and the other end warps up, and vice versa. This is not due to the plastic being inadequately seated in the metal. I forced the plastic down so it is flush everywhere, and soon, one end is up a bit.I made it work, by doing one end, readjusting the plastic, and doing the other end. But this is a jury rig, not the real fix. The real fix is to make the plastic inserts from a more stable plastic.I still gave the jig 4 stars, because of the price, because of MilesCraft's general high quality, and because I could make it work.

This worked great and allowed me to use my router for the ...
I used to say I would never get a door that wasn't pre-hung but not anymore! This worked great and allowed me to use my router for the first time. The router bit is very sharp and cuts clean edges. You will have two small holes on the door per hing after using this due to the screws used to anchor the jig to the door, but it's easily filled with wood filler. The quality is very good and the kit gives you a lot of options for different sized hinges. If you have a square edge hinge (which I did) you will need to chisel, or cut with a utility knife, the corners to make them square, but it really isn't a big deal. They say the original packaging works as a case to hold the items, but upon opening the package for the first time, I broke it, but it still holds. This made a job that is a pain with a chisel, very easy now.

works okay.
Did 4 doors and jambs 12 hinges.Accuracy is paramount!!There must be something easier than this.Got the job done ...but what an ordeal.

Not bad for the price.
It’s not for precision work yet it’s still precise enough to do a pretty good job, for a homeowner.

really good does the job
Why did I not get one of these years ago, I was skeptical at first but used it today to fit hinges to garage door. It comes with the correct router bit so easy to use saved me a lot of effort and bodging using chisels.

Not suitable for Australian doors or hinges
These templates are denoted in inches, which should be a giveaway. However I had 5 doors with 90mm hinges to hang, and these are on paper virtially the same length as a 3 1/2 inch hinge. However in reality they are more different in every dimension than you might think, and the radius of the curved edge is different too.In short, they don't fit. And don't think you can make them fit especially if you have curved edge hinges. It's puzzling why thjis product is even offered for sale in Australia shipped locally overnight.

EXCELLENT!
This is probably one of the best tools I ever bought! The quality of the product is excellent. Everything fits together perfectly. The router bit it comes with is of high quality. I tried it on a piece of scrap wood first and couldn't believe how well it works. It basically does everything except measure the depth of cut which you have to play with until you get what you want. Not a real problem if you are a little patient making router adjustments. Can't say enough about this. It's EXCELLENT!
