I bought this to go with my new Samsung TV (50TU8000). For the last 10 or so years I've used a set of Logitech 2.1 pc speakers connected via 3.5mm headphone jack.However like many modern TV's the tu8000 Samsung has no headphone jack and instead uses either Optical, Bluetooth or HDMI eARC. After some research I found out that this soundbar can be controlled by the TV remote when connected via Optical or Bluetooth. I decided to go for Optical and ordered this along with a 1M Amazon Basics Optical cable. Set up was painless, just connect the optical cable from the soundbar to the TV, then set the soundbar to D.IN, then on the TV, change the output from TV speakers to Optical out and then straight away the TV remote was able to control the volume of the soundbar.When testing with smart apps like Prime video, the sound was great and lip sync perfect...however when I went over to the Virgin V6 box, the sound was quiet and out of sync :( after messing around with audio delay settings I was about to give up, then I went into the Virgin V6 box settings and set the audio output to PCM only and straight away the sync issue was solved and the volume was louder, for good measure I set the TV output from auto to PCM along with the TV's default delay setting of 100ms and all is well :)To get the most out of the sound of this bar I recomend Bass +4 Treble +2 Woofer +3. Sound mode standard and then if using a Samsung TV like mine go into the sound settings on the TV, fine the EQ and 150hz +3, 300hz+3, 1.5khz +4, 5+10khz +3Overall for a medium sized room with the correct settings this soundbar is perfect for it's price. Volume is good, Midrange and Trebble Clear (when calibrated correctly) and the Bass Deep, but not crazy. Obviously if you want serious home cinema surround sound with mega bass and volume then look elsewhere, but if like me you're in a living room environment and want a solid upgrade over TV speakers and a good balanced sound, then this bar is perfect.A few things to note, the subwoofer must be placed on a solid surface AND not a rattling glass shelf, I saw other reviewers say that the Bass was distorted and this would likely be the cause. Also spend some time setting the sound to your preference, the included manual is a good reference to help, trust me it really, really worth it and in my case made a MASSIVE difference to the sound :)

Lower price range Samsung sound bar & sub woofer, ideal for our small lounge. unpacked,read instructions,tested sound, & up on the wall in less than 25 mins.very pleased with it.

Wasn't sure about sound bars, I've been using a 5.1 Samsung surround sound but too many wires too move when decorating or moving furniture, this unit put my concerns to rest it has great bass at low volume, seperate bass unit is wireless just plug in to convenient socket an improvement on TV speakers and not to difficult to setup.Recommend this sound bar price is right why pay more?.

The soundbar paired with my TV Very easily and worked perfectly from the get go. Installed and never had to think about it twice. Plus the output can be heard upstairs. it's a great piece of tech!

Used the sound bar for my TV when I watch TV and play on my console. Excellent sound also easy to set up and use.Great value for money

The media could not be loaded.  I originally purchased this Samsung Soundbar and Subwoofer to go with my new Samsung TV; I thought both being Samsung would create a perfect match. Sadly however, and as other reviewers have commented on, there is a fundamental design flaw which meant it had to go back!When you are listening to music, the sounds quality is great. This satisfaction is short lived however, as when you switch over to watching TV, the subwoofer produces a notable and very distracting/annoying whirring noise. I have attached a short video to this review that illustrates the issue (hopefully it has uploaded correctly). I spoke to Samsung Technical Support for the best part of an hour but they were at a loss as to why the subwoofer was producing this noise. Samsung essentially labelled it as fault and told me to contact the seller. Clearly however, this issue is not limited to this one unit as several others have experienced the same.Although the seller gave me a full refund after reporting the issue, this didn't include the £15 it cost me to send it back via DPD. Not the most amount of money I realise, but enough to leave a bitter taste in your mouth as I've been left out-of-pocket after receiving and then having to send back an item which is clearly not fit for purpose.As a result, I cannot recommend with Samsung Soundbar and Subwoofer.
