Q: How wide is the gap between the seat and back rest when lying flat?

About 1/2 inch or so. It's a great bench very rigid and the foam is thick and comfortable. Highly recommend

Q: What is the dimension when bench is completely folded for storage?

Unfortunately I don’t know the dimensions of this bench as it was complete junk & literally fell apart when my husband attempted to use it for the first time. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!
