Monolith THX-460T - THX Ultra Certified Tower Speaker, High Excursion Woofers, Cloth Dome Midrange, Silk Dome Tweeter, High Density Fiberboard

I purchased a pair of these to serve as left and right channels for a dedicated home theater. The surrounds are also by monoprice and I’ve used the word equipment several times. The first pair arrived with one dead tweeter. Monoprice would not send replacement until the heavy and huge one was returned first. Replacement arrives and I proceed with setup. After running audysee the speakers blended well and performed decently for music and movies- significantly better than the magnepans they replaced and not too far off (with external subs and running them as “small” from my main stereo system with speakers costing 5 times as much. For about two months before both tweeter units failed. 3 out of 4 failed within months of song them within specified parameters and never at thx reference volume. I contacted monoprice who after asking for video evidence, which I provided, only offered to replace them if I returned both speakers (70lbs a piece) at my cost. This despite the tweeter unit literally being plug and play swappable. I rarely write reviews. I would recommend these as a DO NOT BUY based on reliability and customer service. A shockingly poor experience and the first time I’ve ever had issues with THX approved components after over 20 years of this particular hobby across dozens of speakers and other pieces of “high end” components (although these aren’t high end- if they worked properly and reliably, though, they competed in that space. But they don’t, so skip them).
