So far I love it!
I've gone through many mice over the past 2 years. Started with the Logitech g502 hero, then to the Corsair Nightsword RGB, Corsair M65 Elite and several others. The Nightsword RBG I had for the longest period of time, probably around 10-11 months until the right click switch started dying. I have pretty large hands and it seems it's nearly IMPOSSIBLE to find good mice these days for larger hands. I use "fingertip" style and my issue was always that my pinky finger/side of palm would always rub on the mousepad.I decided to try this MX780 because I liked the idea of the modular thumb/side pieces, I set mine up to use the larger thumb/shelf piece for both sides which cured the issue I was having. I also set the palm height to about 3/4 high and I'd say I'm about 90% there in regards to the perfect mouse. I played Cold War last night for a few hours and the mouse definitely improved my gameplay. In full transparency, the mouse still feels a tad small overall for my hands but I'm already getting used to it and so far it's the best our of all the mice I've tried. For the price this mouse is AMAZING especially because it's not even new technology. I was a little concerned because it's a laser mouse, but honestly for my play style I haven't noticed it being any different, if anything it seems better? The first thing I noticed right off the bat was how smooth the mouse felt compared to the Corsair models I came from previously. Everything just felt more accurate and precise and I only set the DPI to a fixed 2400.The mouse buttons are fully customizable in the software (as expected) and getting keys binded was really straightforward. The mouse feels as good or better quality than the Corsair models and probably on par with the g502 hero if not better to be honest. The lighting is bright and more customizable than both Corsair models and the g502 hero I had.The software is pretty good, honestly I'd say it's on par with iCUE (Corsair's software) but is much smaller in file-size because it's dedicated to the mouse and not an "all in one" for all G.Skill products like iCUE is for Corsair. I suppose that could be interpreted as a con if you want to stay within the G.Skill ecosystem, but if all you have is the mouse it's great because the software is lightweight. The usability of the software is decent, I'd say as good or better than iCUE (iCUE has some really odd UX patterns that make customization of button bindings (Actions) very clunky feeling. The lighting customization in the G.Skill software is a little wonky but once I got it setup I don't expect to play with the colorization much.TLDR; if you have large hands and want customization on the thumb/pinky sides, need extra bindable buttons and LOVE RGB this is a DEFINITE pickup.

Good mouse for left handed gamers
PROS: The G.Skill Ripjaw MX780 is a heavy mouse and I definitely like it that way. With the added weights and customizable side grips, it weighs in at 123g. I like the sided wing tip grips on both sides of the mouse and will make use of them with my ring and thumb fingers for a unconventional finger tip grip. Palm rest is height adjustable and the side buttons stick out a bit making it easy to click. Unlike other mice, I have rarely misclicked the side buttons on the Ripjaw MX780 Up to 5 DPI settings can be saved on the mouse and multiple profiles can be saved and assigned to a specific game.exe. Except for the left and right click buttons, all others can be reprogrammable and can set up complex macro settings too. RGB color settings on the mouse can be customized but I am mainly 'meh' with the whole RGB color crazy, thus mainly left it on the default setting.CONS: The sensor is laser and not optical. I personally found hard surface mouse pads track much better with the MX780 than cloth. Over the years the braided cord has gotten frayed and sometimes would catch and things. I have look ino getting a bungie cord holder to help allivate the problem. The software has a bit of a learning curve and looks quite outdated overall compared to other gaming mice software, but it gets the job done.I originally purchased this mouse back in October 2016. I am left handed and have large hands (measurements 22cm length x 14cm width) so finding a mouse that works for me can be hard. I've tried many brands that offer ambidextrous mice, Logitech G Pro Wireless, Logitech G903 and most recently the Steelseries Sensei 310. I have returned both Logitechs but have kept the Sensei 310 since I do like it a lot and plan to do a review on it later. I was going to check out BenQ Zowie FK series, but after doing a bit of research from Rocket Jump Ninja, I found out that only 2 of the 4 side buttons can active at one time. I play a bit of FPS, mainly Overwatch, and I like having all 4 side buttons availble to assign abilities to.Logitech mice I tried were a bit too light and not wide enough for my liking. My mouse grip is mainly claw and palm with occasional fingertip. After the about and hour with the Logitech mice, I would feel my hand sometimes cramp up. The side buttons on also a bit too close and I would easily hit the wrong one. The MX780 never gave me hand issues and could comfortably game for hours with it.If G.Skill would release a newer model of this mouse with updated hardware and software, a optical sensor or even a wireless version, I would immediately pick one up and give it a go. If you are in the market for a large, heavier ambidextrous style mouse I recommend giving this one a try.

Bold, unique, customisable, but let down by side buttons
First off: Left-hander, moderately small hands, palm grip/hold. Had this mouse shipped internationally and gave it a couple of weeks before ultimately deciding to return it. I really tried to love it.I respect what G.Skill have done with all the customisation options. It’s a unique, ambitious mouse design that is generally very solid, and great for the price, but could use a few tweaks to the side buttons in a future revision. If you’re a claw-gripper it’s ideal. The pros:- A very slick, unique visual design and compact form factor. It’s small, only slightly bigger than a laptop mouse, but bold and satisfying to look at- Despite its size it feels appropriately weighted (and can be upped a further 8 grams with the included weights). Not heavy by any means, but not so light that it feels cheap- The overall build quality is excellent and solid- The matte anti-fingerprint finish both looks great and actually works — no fingerprint traces. It’s textured just enough to stop your fingers slipping, but smooth enough to not feel coarse or rough- Interchangeable magnetic side rests and slot-in weights, both are easy to install and don’t require any screws- Adjustable palm rest is a nice touch- The tracking is great and works on a variety of surfaces without issues. Lots of DPI and polling options- The software is reasonably straightforward and intuitive (though admittedly I didn’t test the macro functionality)- Lots of RGB customisation options over multiple zonesThe cons:- Not a deal breaker for me, but noteworthy for some, the RGB isn’t balanced and has a blue bias. Whites look a little blueish, oranges appear almost white, and yellows are a bit green. Can be mitigated somewhat with the custom RGB settings in the software- If you’re not a claw gripper and/or have big hands, it may be tad too small for you. I tried to adapt to this style and personally found it uncomfortable and ultimately unworkable- Biggest gripe for me were the side buttons. They’re positioned very high up, which can be okay if you claw, but otherwise the front-side button is basically out of reach for smaller hands. Added to that, there is a huge amount of travel before the button actually clicks, approximately 3-4mm, which is further compounded by the click itself requiring a hefty amount of pressure — more than any other mouse I’ve ever used. So much so that, no matter how I held the mouse, the amount of pressure exerted to click the side button often caused a sideward movement shift in the entire mouse, which is obviously disastrous for precision aiming or pointer movement. No matter what I tried, I just couldn’t adapt to that and, as a lefty, the ambidextrous side buttons were a major selling point that I wasn’t willing to compromise onAs said, if G.Skill revises this mouse in the future, I would definitely reconsider it if they could improve on those side buttons. Less travel, and a much softer click.Otherwise, it’s worthy of your consideration, and a respectable option, as customisable ambidextrous mice go.

Good customization, ok mouse overall
Not a bad mouse at all. I like the customization options. You can swap out the side grips. You can add weight. You can change the colours, or turn them off. Raise and lower the palm grip. You cannot move the palm grip forwards or backwards, though. Which is kinda disappointing if you have bigger hands like I do. This mouse is a claw grip for me. If I palm grip it, my fingers go far over the front of the mouse. And my hands are only slightly above average. But as a claw gripper, it is pretty comfortable anyways. Just depends on what you prefer. The software isn't terrible, but could be more organized/simplified. Scroll wheel clicks with each turn. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing either. Just preferences. The left and all the buttons have a nice satisfying click. Also, I've had this mouse for about a year now. I noticed that I have to click in the middle mouse button harder than I used to for it to detect. It still works, I just gotta press harder. And the sensor is pretty accurate. No complaints when playing Rainbow six or battlefield. Overall, it's not a bad deal for the price. But since I'd like to try a palm. grip, I'd probably get something else next time.

Re-Bought it 2 3/4 years later
I bought the first one in January 2017 and totally loved it, I'm left-handed and there aren't that many ambidextrous mice out there that I find comfortable. This one felt amazing from the beginning, especially with the adjustable palm rest and the weights added, I use the smaller "wings". The software is slightly wonky at first and needs a bit to get used to in terms of applying changes etc. to the mouse but all in all it's decent.Anyway, the right mouse button of my first one was starting to lose contact and in games that require right mouse button to use for direction (wow...), it became a pain. I do play a lot. Anyway, I looked around, tried several mice and ended up buying this one again, it arrived today and I absolutely love it again.
