Complete Bible: King James Version MP3 CD – MP3 Audio, April 30, 2007

I bought this so that I can listen to the bible while active (going for a walk, cleaning up around the house, feeding the baby) and I am not able to read the bible. I have to say listening to the bible rather than reading, I feel, has helped me to memorize a bit more. However, it is easy to zone out and not listen compared to reading. I love these cds and I think they are a great value considering I almost bought The Listener's Bible with Max Mclean (because I love his accent) and the KJV is currently being sold for $89.95 at his website. That is a huge savings! I haven't had any problems with the audio either and I've been listening to this for about 5 months but have yet to listen to all of it.I have come across two problems though.1. This will not play in my car cd player. I guess my car does not play mp3 cds, so, this is something to consider if you are planning to listen as you drive.2. I transfered this to my ipod and my ipod was playing things out of order. For example, it would play 1 Peter 1 followed by 1 Timothy 1. This stumped me for a while. At first I fixed this by just putting the separate books in different playlists. All of Hebrews in one separate playlist, all of John in another etc. However, I realized that the reason the order was off is because of the track numbers repeat on the books. I decided to fix this by dividing the separate books of the bible into separate albums. In case this can help someone I am going to list the steps of what I did (and I am in no way a professional)1. In Itunes I did a search for one book of the bible at a time. For example, in the top right search box I typed in "Hebrews."2. All the books of Hebrews came up and I selected them all by clicking on the first, pressing shift and clicking on the last.3. I press "control" and clicked with the mouse and a dropdown menu appeared and I clicked get info.4. Changed Album from "Holy Bible KJV" to "Holy Bible Hebrews" for exampleWanted to add that the whole thing is supposed to be 1.9 mb to store but I only have the new testament on my ipod as of yet.Hope that helps someone

This is a great DVD. You have to get this DVD, for example when you get it listen to Psalm 22, which is"1My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? why art thou so far from helping me, and from the words of my roaring?2O my God, I cry in the day time, but thou hearest not; and in the night season, and am not silent 3But thou art holy, O thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel. 4Our fathers trusted in thee: they trusted, and thou didst deliver them." And more.But when you listen to that Psalm he really acts it out. So you all know thats the chapter that prophecies Jesus Christs death on the cross. But he just doesn't speak the verse, when he acts the verse out, you can feel the strain, pain, and wearinees in his voice, as the writer supposedly would have said it in Psalm 22. Other books and chapters he acts the verse out to how they would seem to say it. GREAT BUY!!! I FINISHED THE WHOLE BIBLE FROM GENESIS TO REVELATION. Mine just came in the mail yesterday. There are 6 mp3 cds in paper sleeves in a small box. The cds played fine on my truck's stereo which can read mp3 cds.Another reviewer commented on the audio quality. I found the quality good, especially better than some mp3s I had downloaded years ago. Sometimes there is a little change in volume going from chapter to chapter, but it is hardly noticable. Is not cd quality by any stretch. The mp3 files are encoded at 80 kbps, which is plenty for this type of narration. I think you have to bear in mind that Scourby recorded these tracks decades ago.For the price, it is hard to beat. You have the entire KJV Bible (that's over 70 hours of audio) ready to put on your mp3 player, listen to on your computer, or play in a mp3 capable car stereo. This is a bargain compared to the audio cd edition which has 60 cds.

A dear friend is undergoing a grueling chemotherapy regimen, and I wanted to get her Scriptures on CD. She normally reads a more modern translation like NIV so I wasn't sure if this was the right choice for her. I decided on this one because I thought that narration was very important, and that hearing the King James version audibly would be quite different than reading it. I told my friend that if she didn't like it I would get her another version of her choosing as I would be happy to have this one for myself. She loved it. I bought another copy for myself, and one for my sister as well. I am happy with my choice. Scourby has a good voice, interesting without over-dramatizing in a distracting way. In some places he reads a tad rapidly for my taste but overall the pacing is good. The packaging is pretty no-nonsense, straightforward and the discs look old fashioned, like the font etc. could use a facelift. But the important part is what's on the discs. It's a very good reading of Scripture and I'm very happy with my choice and the reasonable price.

This is perfect for listening to the bible when you're in the car, cleaning the house, etc. Just be sure whatever radio you're using is capable of playing MP3's, otherwise it will not play the cd. I like that Alexander's voice isn't overly dramatic, but isn't just "there" either. He is probably my most favorite one to listen to that reads the bible. He puts enough emphasis on the words, without making it sound like a play. I prefer to read the bible, because it's easier for me to understand the meaning of the scriptures that way, but his voice definitely helps me to follow along. It's also very convenient to have on hand, because you can listen to it in the car or when you're busy around the house, when you don't have time to sit down and read. It's the complete set, so you have the whole bible from Genesis to Revelations. It's worth the price!

Father purchased this, he's always listening to it. Can't get enough of that classy English accent. I would recommend this to people who are busy and have no time to read the bible...you can play this in your car.

First of all, I recommend this product to those who have at least some aquaintance with the Scriptures. This is because the translation is the Authorised Version and it can therefore be difficult to follow at times (although it is not as difficult as people generally make out, because Scourby's reading is just so good). The listening is not for those who desire indepth study of the Scriptures (anyway, you would probably use a printed Bible for that). But what this product does promise is great aid to the person who seeks to get to grips with the whole Bible - an aim which is greatly to be desired, especially today. Many Christians are very poor when it comes to reading the whole word of God. We tend to select bits we like and neglect huge portions of other parts, mainly the Old Testament Law and Prophets. As a result, we have become deficient in biblical doctrine and our knowledge of this God whom we claim to worship. However, as one listens to Scourby's reading, one cannot ignore the fire of God's holiness and justice, His hatred of sin and rebellion, and His general majesty.The Old Testament in particular comes alive through this reading of the Scriptures. It honestly feels like an epic journey, which you want to repeat again and again. You feel like you are there. As Scourby goes through chapter by chapter, you find yourself drawn to listen to just one more chapter, until eventually, you have finished the book and want to start the next. I was most astonished when I listened to Leviticus. I said to myself: "Forget detail - just try to get to grips basically with what is going on." And I got through Leviticus in just 2 nights! And it was not a burden; it was a great joy. I have always liked Leviticus since. Sometimes I think that you will be frustrated that you cannot follow what is going on. But do not be troubled. Ask God for guidance. Seek to be more familiar, at least, with all of God's Book and He will bless you greatly and use you to build up His people.The product is actually very good. I have put it all onto my Ipod. They are not CDs though; they are MP3s. So you will need to upload them onto your computer and either listen from that, or transfer them to your MP3 player or Ipod. At the price this is being sold for, it is an absolute bargain. It is by far the cheapest version of Scourby's reading that I have seen. Plus, the quality is superb, considering it was done around the mid-20th century.Alexander Scourby's reading of the Bible helped me so much in my early Christian experience. His reading is excellent and totally original. So many audio Bibles have been produced now, but this one is the classic version of the Bible being read out-loud right the way through. It deserves to remain respected as such. Scourby's voice has been called: "The Voice of the Bible" - once you listen to it for a length of time, you will know why. It has helped many people, including myself, and I thank God for this man and his voice. Whether he was a believer or not, God can use anyone He pleases. And it just so pleased God to use this man in the reading of the Holy Book. Of its kind, this is a product which is very difficult to surpass.10/10

This Mp3 Bible Audio is excellent and highly recommended. The voice is clear and dramatic. I always have a very busy week, so it helps me to listen to portions of the Bible everyday. I've already transferred it into my phone and my laptop via windows media player. I listen to it in the bus or walking in the road and I love it. The whole Bible comes alive and clear.Be assured, the words are clear, dinstinct and no background noise or music. You need a 3.5-4.0GB memory card to get it into your phone. It features in my phone as songs, so i navigate through it with the same tools for my phone media player.Mr Scourby reads it chapter by chapter; he introduces each book and each chapter before he reads them. So I always know which chapter he is on. If you want to learn more about the Bible especially those minor prophets of the Old testament, pls pick up this item. You won't regret it.Don't hesitate to buy it, it is AWESOME for any Bible loving student.

It is always a delight to listen to the Word of God. Just 30 min. ago, while driving, I was listening to Psalms.The voice is clear and the speed is very proper.
