Why do they picture this draped over the sides like a tablecloth, rather than trimmed to fit under a real tablecloth?

This tablepad can be used as a primary tablecloth as well. It can be trimmed to size if needed.

Any advice on removing creases from packaging?

I’m sorry but I don’t have an answer on how to remove the creases. They haven’t seemed to be a problem when I put a table cloth over it.
