For crab fishermen using a star or ring type crab trap, this 48' crab line makes an excellent retrieval cord. Made out of twisted polyrope, it won't rot and resists marine growth.

synthetic cordage
Nothing makes this item special. You guessed it. You are just getting a thing piece of cordage. approximately 1/4" diameter. Not bondage grade. But still good enough in a pinch if you need to tie someone up.It will only do the job if the water isn't deeper than the length of the rope. Don't worry too much about the weight limit. You're not catching enough crab to break the rope. Why even buy this at all? Because of the price. Saltwater and UV lighting will deteriorate whatever you're using anyway. So why waste more money on better quality rope?Make sure you're wearing good work gloves. This line will bite into your skin and cause cuts and abrasions. No good getting saltwater into fresh cuts.

Not Nylon at All!
This product is labeled as being braided nylon. It is braided polypropelene, is very stiff and springy, and does not hold knots well.I would NOT buy this product again.

Thinner than you'll expect, otherwise excellent.
I got this line because it was very inexpensive and I figured there couldn't be any down side.It is definitely strong enough, but it's so skinny that it is hard to pull up with bare or gloved hands.Aside from the diameter issue, this won't rot, is compact, and is the right length for most piers I've been at.If you don't mind the thin diameter of the rope or have an alternate way to pull it up, you can't beat this for the price!

Good rope
I am so glad I got this rope for our crab trap. Amazon had it as a recommendation when I was buying my crab trap (otherwise I wouldn't have thought about it) and I am so glad I got it! It's super sturdy and strong. Good rope.

I find the line too thin and can hurt my hands pulling up the pot. Should have got thicker rope.

Clothes Line
The line is way to thin for crabbing. It is about as thick as boot lace. It's acceptable for tying small bushes and as cloths line. I regret buying it.

On the small end of 1/4" diameter.
I purchased this line to extend an existing line on a crab trap. This green line is bright and lightweight. The product description says 1/4", but the diameter of the line is smaller, closer to that of a regular usb charging cable. I've tied it at the upper end of my existing line (closest to the surface) just to minimize the odds that gets cut on rocks/reefs. I kept my existing (beefier) line at the bottom.I'm not too worried about its breaking point, but the line is small enough that it's annoying to pull up without gloves, it doesn't offer much grip. It also doesn't hold knots very well, so tie lots.It doesn't sink very well, so I'd definitely recommend attaching a line weight to it if there are l
