From Darren Star, creator of SEX AND THE CITY, and Robert Harling, writer of STEEL MAGNOLIAS, comes a deliciously fun, wicked new drama that shows you can go home again... but only if you're ready to face the sins of your past. Indulge yourself in the guilty pleasures of GCB: THE COMPLETE FIRST SEASON. Back in high school, original mean girl Amanda Vaughn (Leslie Bibb) mercilessly tormented her less attractive classmates. Twenty years later, after her hubby is busted for a Ponzi scheme -- and meets his maker in a particularly scandalous way -- a disgraced Amanda is back in Dallas to start life anew under her mother's (Annie Potts) palatial roof. But will the good women of her hometown welcome her back with open arms or dole out some kick-ass karmic payback? Let's just say, hell hath no fury like cosmetically enhanced, resident church diva and scripture scholar Carlene Cockburn (Kristin Chenoweth)! Relive all 10 episodes of GCB, including "sin-tillating," never-before-seen bonus features, in this divinely decadent boxed set.

Outstanding show, should have been renewed...
GCB was a camp-riot, and was finding its vibe, by the time it was finished. Without question, Kristen Chenowith, the amusingly named "Carlene Cockburn"..) was the center of the show, and got the chance to sing in most every episode- most welcome!Annie Potts had a blast playing "Gigi Stopper" , and steals every scene she is in. Wild costumes and hair for the entire cast, complete the "look" of this comedy. The show is FUNNY, but there are themes that are presented, sometimes with a heavy hand that make a point. Many a truth is told in jest.Another stand-out, and perhaps the best written, was the FANTASTIC Miriam Shor playing "Cricket Caruth-Reilly". Her performance is outstanding. "Cricket" easily has the best storyline, as a married woman with a BIG secret. Shor played this part like a fine tuned violin. A performance not to be missed! I have been a fan of Shor's work since the CBS effort "Swingtown".Less effective, due to plot constraints, were Leslie Bibb ("Amanda Vaughn") and the lovely Marisol Nicols ( "Heather Cruz"). Nichols, in particular, had little to do, other than to react to others. Had the series gone to season two, I bet there might have been more for her.The very attractive, and talented Bibb was saddled with a part that reminds one of "Marilyn" in The Munsters -- she had the thankless job of being the semi normal one, with a cast of way-over-the-top people. The guy's in the show were attractive foils to the GCB's - David James Elliot played off of Chenowith well, as "Ripp Cockburn". Charming Mark Deklin was sensational as Cricket's husband ("Blake Reilly"), and Tyler Jacob Moore ("Pastor John Tudor") had fun with his part, done with a wink and a grin. Brilliant casting. There is not one second when you think thay are anyting but genuine.Delkin had the better storyline, working so well with Shor. What COULD have been a one-note part, was played on many level's, some comedic, some not.The show had many guest stars, but NONE could be better than the amazing Donna Mills, best known for playing "Abby" on the long running CBS drama, Knots Landing. If you are reading this, you probably are already a fan of classic night time soaps, and will enjoy the episode that Mill's appears in, playing "Bitsy Lourd".This ALONE may be worth the price of this set. YES, Donna looks great, and is better-than-good! Wait until you see what happens in THAT episode! Trust me. Really. The entire show is worth your time, and worth a look. The Amazon price is right, and I can't think of anything more fun to take to the beach, on vacation, or to just enjoy. I think a fair amount of people missed this gem, and it is a good way to catch up.ABC should have given this provocative show another season. Well worth a look. The cast is shot well, and production quality is high.

ABC capriciously cancels GCB - Upsets Viewers
For the past 6+ years I drifted away from the major networks and gravitated toward History Channel, Nat Geo, Bravo, Food Network, HGTV, etc... Why? Because I was bored with the programming the major networks were providing. Largely the shows were so lackluster, filled with very predictable outcomes, and way too many commercials. All of that changed during the early part of 2012 when I saw advertisements/promo's for GCB. It looked like an intriguing show, had an incredible cast, and was based in my home state of Texas (although I'm displaced to Atlanta). As the anticipated date for the series premiere arrived I knew I'd be there to see the first episode. And darn if it didn't disappoint.I became hooked because the show not only resonated with my Texas upbringing it also possessed fine acting from an extremely well-experienced cast; unpredictable & well connected plot lines; intrigue; character complexity, transparency, & believability; and finally great comedic character interactions. In GCB I could have it all. That for me is rare in network programming. And now I can continue my healthy obession with the show through the recently released Season 1 DVD.Unfortunately the unpredictable & capricious canceling of the show based on ABC/Disney's elevated expectations that GBC, as a Sunday night replacement, would immediately garner the high viewership ratings that its popular, long-running series Desperate Housewives received. Seriously what kind of executive decision-making did ABC/Disney executives utilize in determining GBC viewership rating goals and its subsequent canceling. I believe they practiced the scientific technique of flipping a one-sided coin to align with their pre-determined capricious decision to cancel. For now, I'm appreciative that the first season is captured in a newly released DVD I recently purchased. HOWEVER, this does not soothe the issue of cancellation because as a devoted GCB fan I was eagerly awaitng Season 2 and its subsequent DVD.ABC/DISNEY - REVERSE & REINSTATEABC/Disney, I impore you to reverse your cancellation decision and reinstate GCB for Season 2 and hopefully beyond. GCB fans will be appreciative AND we'll add to your viewship demographics. Plus, we'll buy future DVDs and other GCB related novelties. Otherwise, I'll go back to watching cable stations only.ABC/DISNEY - REVERSE & REINSTATE

Disappointed - that it was only one season!
Fun and funny, great cast, loved the setting. The characters were great. I don't know why it stopped at one session.

See it once for the cast, but that will be enough.
Had its fun parts but overall sub Par. A series lasting just one season does ring alarm bells

A good reason to hack your DVD Region code in the UK
I saw the trailer for this, loved it soo much that I hacked the Region Codes on my DVD players so that I could buy a copy of this and watch it at home. It was worth it - but remember to buy your copy from UK based companies or you could be forced to pay import duty.

I loved Leslie Bibb in the series Popular and she is great in this series too. But Kristin Chenoweth is fantastic as the publicly good Christian who is a vicious backstabber in secret.

absolutely amazing and funny
This is a brilliant series. I now officially have 6 other friends hooked. The series is comical and light hearted. The cast is brilliant , the only sad thing is their is only one season because the network apparently scrapped it, so the last episode leaves you hanging and wanting more but there isn't any! This is a must watch and own!
