490-900-0025 MTD Riding Lawn Mower Deck Wash Kit

Love the fact that the item came with, actually, TWO separate 'sprayers' (one metal, one plastic, for two types of holes/mower decks). Installed this on my Bolens 38" (twin 19") front engine rider in less than 20 minutes. Even though I had to drill the holes myself, it worked, easily cleared the blade, and I'm already moving on to my next plan, which is either to install the plastic one on the other side, or just re-install this one between my two blades so the sprayer/header faces onto and above both (already checked--it's easily doable, will have blade clearance, and will spray evenly onto both blades at once!).That said, I already tried the metal one out, and it sure seems to clean both blades from the one side I installed it (near the grass thrower, right side of deck, as in instructions for bigger deck same brand).Pretty sure I drilled a nearly-exact 1/2" hole, but there is a good level of wiggle room on that size, if you DO have to drill one yourself (for any brand mower, not just those it's made for--just CHECK BLADE CLEARANCE).My blade clearance after install was easily an inch. The quick-disconnect piece seems to be just that, the 'regular-issue' you can re-buy if you lose this one, but I'm keeping track of mine just in case.The parts/fittings all seem very well made, even the plastic nozzle I haven't used so far, so I hope/expect this unit to last years.The first test cleaned my blades very well....I may submit a video if I can ever build a housing to protect my smartphone while spinning mower blades over it ('cause it'll be NEAT!).I paid just over $15 for mine, with free shipping; anyone with a Bolens deck like mine (heck-ish to remove) will really appreciate the convenience of relegating those after-mow-cleanups to a quick-connect jet from their garden hose, instead of add'l slavish malarky while you're coated in your own sweat from the actual mowing job in the first place!

I use this on a 2016 Troy Bilt Bronco 42" riding mower. It was easy to install and is easy to use. Hopefully by using the wash port on the mower, I keep the underside of the deck clean, which should extend the life of the mower.INSTALLATIONTo install, I dropped the long cylindrical metal piece ("the metal cylinder") down through the mower wash deck hole. The threads of the metal cylinder should be on the underside of the deck. Next I put the washer on the thread side of the metal cylinder and tightened on the nut.USAGEThe black and green plastic piece pushes onto the metal cylinder and is where a hose can be attached.When I wash the mower I pull the black/ green plastic piece off of the mower, attach a hose to it, and then re-attach it to the mower. I then turn on the water and let the mower run for a few minutes (cutting blades should be active during this).After washing, I turn off the mower and the water, and then restart the mower again; I let the blades run for another couple of minutes. This dries the underside of the deck a bit.FINAL THOUGHTSI've only used it a couple times, but it seems durable and hopefully will keep my mower clean. I'd definitely buy again.

My Honda does not have a wash-out port and my grass is very thick and damp causing it to get stuck on the underside of the mower which builds up over time. I used to have to remove it by scraping it off after it dried and this was quite a chore. The spray head has two sprayer ports opposite each other and as my mower had no pre-drilled hole, I drilled one myself into the aluminum deck where it would be easy to attach a hose. It took me all of 5 minutes to drill the hole and attach the spray port to the deck and it works great. I hook the hose up to the hose coupling, turn on the water and attach it to the port after which I start the mower and in a minute the underside of the deck is nice and clean. If you do this on your lawn, you don't have to clean the mess off your driveway. After I clean it out, I run the mower once more to dry it off a bit and put it away in the garage. It should work on any mower you can drill the hole into and for those with pre-drilled holes, I believe they are all standardized in size and so this should fit.

Incredible. I have a Honda Harmony mower with the Lexon deck (plastic) and I installed this and it does a tremendous job keeping the underside of the mower deck spotless. I did spray a teflon coating to help keep grass from sticking but still the same this helps washes it clean. Installation was a little tedious as the hole you have to drill is more oval. So I used a dial caliper to set the diameter and find a matching drill bit. That created the hole using a Forstner Bit that makes a perfect hole. I then used some drill file attachments to make two of the sides a little oval for the shoulder of the fitting to fit in and lock in place. This oblong hole makes the fitting lock in the deck so it doesn't turn when you tighten the nut on the underside. Now I did put some locktite on the threads to keep the lock from ever coming loose. Very happy with this product.

Installation was fairly simple but you'll probably have to either raise the mower or remove the deck to get under it. Best to have a good sized socket set (or a friend that has one) on hand. Comes with a quick connect fitting for the hose. Since I already have quick connects on my hoses that were not compatible with the kit, I just screwed a male fitting onto the fitting provided. The nice thing about the provided fitting is that it doesn't allow water out until it's connected to the deck. The system works pretty good provided you use it immediately after you mow. When I do that for two minutes (as per the instructions), it works well. The last time I mowed, it started raining just as I was finishing so I parked the mower in the garage until the next day. There was still quite a bit of residue after I operated the kit for a full five minutes, so I still had to get under there with a hose. For the price, though, it's not bad. I would buy it again.
