Cold frame
Not very sturdy. Cheaply made.

Frost Protection
So far this is doing the job to protect my herbs from frost damage on my deck. The plexiglass is thin and has a frosted appearance which makes it a bit hard to see what is inside โ but the overall construction is decent. Doesn't have a bottom to it so the water drains.

Great little cold frame!
I'm not sure why the bad reviews on this. Obviously it is not a $300 fully insulated cold frame, nor will it protect like a heated greenhouse. Duh. If you want that, stop being cheap. For a simple cold frame to harden off and protect seedlings before being transplanted, this is perfect. I am in zone 6b and currently have 6 week old tomato plants in my gardman cold frame awaiting transplant in April. During the days it is in the 50's but at night it is still primarily in the 30's. I have had no cold damage whatsoever to my tomato plants and they are growing and thriving in their little house outdoors and enjoying the sunshine. I do have it insulated at the bottom with a layer of hay, and it maintains temps 10-15 degrees higher than outside at night. On sunny days be sure to get up with the sun and crack the vent or your plants will surely cook. You can buy weather seal and caulk and treat the cold frame to make it longer lasting and weather resistant, but I did not do either and it's fine. Easy to assemble and spacious. Enjoying so far!

Does the Job!
This Spring we had snowstorms in MAY (kinda late for it). The outdoor temp went from the mid-sixties to the mid-twenties in a day. The zucchini starts I had in the cold frame came through with flying colors.I'm happy.

It works but treat it genlly
My wife is on her third year of use. It is stored inside after the spring growing season and It is holding up fine. I am not sure it would take full time weather and it has to be treated gently, rough use could cause it to come apart. Overall I would buy again.

Great purchase for the moey
This went together smoothly and kept my plants warm on cold nights. I would recommend for anyone who wants to start plants indoors and harden off before planting out.

Pretty good for the price.
I bought this to store my herbs and other little plants I keep on my porch during the winter. I wanted something not too big, that would keep the elements off my plants. You have to manipulate the lid a little when you close it after having it open, but it's held up great so far. My plants even bloomed a little longer than usual after putting them in after the first frost.

I am VERY happy!
For the price of this, I expected to have to protect the wood. I chose to stain it darker, so it matched the 2"x10" treated box I made underneath. I also expected to caulk It. If a pane ever gets broken, I will install a piece of plexiglass. I spent a little more than the cold frame itself, making sure that it will last me the rest of my life. No box comes perfectly square. You must do that. Buying this first, saved me a bunch of time and effort. If you expect this to be like a $300.00 box, don't buy it. Buy a $300.00 box. You can however, make a very nice tool out of this.
