Thankfully son in law could install
This is what we needed to get things up to the second floor of our house now that we are older and can't carry things up the stairs. We actually live in the second floor of the house because we're built into a hillside with garaging and workshops on the "first floor" My son in law installed it for us on the upper deck...he needed extra tool and we at 78 couldn't not have done this on our own. It's heavy and arrived in a very sturdy wooden box which is being recycled into a large flower box. It works well, though it says remote, it's really a control that hangs on 2ft cords. Had hoped it was one we could have kept downstairs to call the box we attached to come down so we could load from the car when we got home, then send the box up to off load. Also there is not way to recharge it without disconnectiing the small recommended battery. We will need to work on that system. Certainly not attractive on the deck, but since we live on a small ranch, we're not worried about the neighbors seeing it and we needed the help more than beauty. It gives us about 5 lifts per charge of the small battery, I think we might get a bigger one if we can't figure out a way to keep it on a trickle charge and still use it. For our purposes, it has been worth the investment of time and $$.

Best add on for my truck.
This thing is awesome. I bought it for loading my ppg trike into bed of truck instead of buying trailer. What a time saver. Load and unload in just a few minutes. Also used to load a refrigerator and propane tanks. So glad i bought this. A little bit of work securing to bed properly to support load, but once its done is great.

careful swinging the arm and working under the crane!!
Keep your back healthy and spend a few bucks. Operate with caution! Great for lifting hay or heavy tools into truck. I use a simple 18 volt tool battery to operate it. works great, for the price. The retaining pin that locks the cable in to the end of the boom is the wrong size. This sometimes allows the cable to jump of the pulley and get pinched on the side of the pulley.

Just what was needed!
Perfect for loading and unloading my scooter, and other heavy things. When mounting to a standard truck bed, make sure to put at least a 1/4" inch steel plate (not supplied), to the underside of the bed

Well, it's kina hit or miss
I don't normally leave reviews but please be aware that the re are a few things that are concerning.1. The bearings have no oil, so get the 2 bearings out and pack them with grease. easy fix.2. The solenoid went bad the second time I used it and it left me stranded... Not acceptable, and I had to buy a new one to get it going.3. The small pin that holds the cable aligned at the very end of the hoist broke.4. The switch was wired backwards, another easy fix.5. The welds seem minimal. Another easy fix as I can add a few welds to reinforce it.Other than that I found assembly very easy and good looking unit and would possibly consider buying it again. I did find the warning of "Don't hang people" amusing.

Dangerous Product Buyers Beware
This Rugcel truck bed hoist is very dangerous. We found defective cold welds on the boom pivot. Look at the pictures where the weld did not bond to the adjoining plates. In my opinion there is a considerable chance this will snap and drop the load when being hoisted. This is likely done by machine and may be a wide speed problem with this Rugcel hoist. When contacting manufacturer we could not get a response email and they don’t publish a phone number.
