Unflinching and Graphic – A Powerful Revenge Thriller
"I Spit On Your Grave" (2010) is not a film for the faint-hearted. It's graphic, intense, and often deeply unsettling. The first half of the movie is particularly difficult to watch, portraying the horrendous act of rape and murder in a way that is far from sanitized. What makes this film stand out is its refusal to shy away from the dark and ugly realities of sexual violence. While it made me extremely uncomfortable, I came to appreciate the filmmaker's approach by the end of the film. It's meant to shock and horrify, and in doing so, it gives viewers insight into the gravity of such atrocious acts. The revenge aspect of the movie, while brutal, offers a cathartic release and shifts the power dynamics in a way that will likely resonate with some viewers. It's a well-acted film, with strong performances that lend authenticity to both the victims and the perpetrators.Warning: This film is not suitable for everyone due to its graphic content and should be approached with caution.Despite its challenging content, "I Spit On Your Grave" (2010) serves as a powerful statement on violence and retribution. It's a thought-provoking piece that can foster greater understanding and empathy, but it's best suited for those who are prepared for its intensity. Viewer discretion is strongly advised.

The Second Half Is Awesome
I found it very hard to watch the first half, but the second was filled with awesome retribution!

Excellent movie about a woman getting revenge..
One of the best movies I have seen.. a woman gets raped by a few men and gets revenge on each one of them, 1 by 1, in a very brutal way.. you will be cheering for the woman the whole movie.. a must see.

Not Your Typical Slice and Slash
To start my review, I want to say that I rented this movie about a week ago (twice) and I still can't get it out my head. It moved me that much. What I meant about my title is, there's no guy with a mask (Jason, Michael, Leatherface) running around with knives, axe, or chainsaws. Also, there's not that unbelievable fictitious, severely burned character running around with blades for fingers. The story line of this movie, can really happen in real life, except for some very minor bits. Brutality, rape, and revenge happens all the time in our life. The producers just put it together remarkably on screen. Now I know, this a remake of the late seventies version and it copies someone else's work, but I am pretty sure I would still favor this 2010 version over the original, though I heard it was good.I am the typical type of guy who roots for the male character and enjoys watching the action and violence that the male actor can bring. But after Jennifer Hill's rape scene, when I am anticipating her revenge ,I was really anxious to see the havoc and carnage that she was going to come back with. I was on edge, because there was good portion of the movie after the rape that she doesn't appear. Then BAM!! There she was! Her retribution was original and unexpected. I was in awe. To me, I thought it was genius in the way writers came up with the ideas for her revenge and it was pleasant to see carried out by Jennifer/ Sarah. Again, not your typical slice and slash. Puts ideas for revenge to a whole new level.Even though it really wasn't that scary, I really felt on edged throughout the whole movie, up to the end when she is just sitting there. The actual rape scene was disturbing and I felt really sorry for Jennifer Hill. I kept thinking, what if she was someone I knew or cared about. If this movie had been real life and there was a young lady that was raped (especially the way she was), I would say hell yeah! Wreak Havoc! Put them through Hell, then send them to it.As for Sarah Butler, well when watching the Special Features (The Making of ISOYG), during the interview, one of the other characters mentioned that they couldn't find another actress to play the part of Jennifer Hill. I have to disagree and I say this hesitantly. I could think of several actress who could play this role quite well. BUT!!...BUT! !!And I want to emphasize this when I say it- I am SO glad that Sarah Butler played the main character. I have never seen her before in any movies. She was like a breath of fresh air as an actress. Her part in this movie and just her presence just knocked me on my a**. I guess this is what I mean when I mentioned that I couldn't get this movie out of my head. She's not the typical main stream hum-drum actress you see in the tabloids or media. I guess that's what makes her original. She was a complete surprise. Not only is she beautiful, she played her role well (Before, during, and after the rape scene). I am grateful that she didn't portray a dumb nitwit who became submissive to the antagonists. Instead, her character immensely symbolized the Phoenix in the Fire. I enjoyed her role as a smart focused athletic young lady. Well, besides the fact that in the movie she lit up a Mary J. But even then I thought that was hot.Well, I think after submitting this I might rent the movie again. Hell, I might as well just go purchase it. Hope my review helped. Didn't want to mention the actual plot, because I didn't want to ruin it for anybody. Enjoy!

Revenge Never Tasted So Good!
I really enjoyed this movie! I think that we humans typically love watching movies because in those moments we are transported into a completely new dimension of experience. When the movie has the power to stimulate our emotional cords and keep us at the edge of our seat, wide-eyed, then it is definitely a good movie. "I Spit on Your Grave" is just the movie that I had been yearning to see! A move that had the power to keep me glued to the television screen, not wanting to go to the restroom, even though I had the ability to press the pause button! The movie starts off with a beautiful young woman who just wants to get out where there are no disruptions, distractions or interuptions; away from the hustle and bustle of the city, simply to concentrate on writing her next novel. On her way to the cabin that she rented, she has to stop and pump gas. As she pumps gas she attempts to get help with directions from the guys who are attending the gas station. Being a small town where there is nothing to do, the attendants seem a little odd, not familiar with outsiders or how to interact with them. They find out where she is staying and end up showing up and violating her. The rape scene is very intense, lasts for quite some time and can be rather disturbing, definitely not easy to watch. Yet, as I continued to watch, I started to realize exactly what the movie producer was doing, why he or she was giving so much emphasis to that particular scene. The length and violent nature of that scene helps to build this tension within the viewer, this sense of acute anger, of frustration, this sense of wanting to do something to help her this poor girl. The scene completely pulls you in and you totally forget that it is only a movie; and that is the magic of a good movie! What you feel for the perpetrators is the catalist, the primer that enables you to enjoy the sweet revenge that is surely to come during the rest of the movie. I was amazed at the ingenuity that the girl expressed in her contraptions, designed to get each of her perpetrators back for what they did to her. I won't give away the details, but I loved the last revenge plot, and how she executed her payback. What made it really cool and interesting was that she got her chance to say back to them,to each one of her attackers, exactly what they had said to her as they were raping her and she pleaded for her life.I hope that I didn't give out too much, but this is definitely a movie that I recommend for adults who want a good nail-bitter to watch!

Spettacolo puro
I Spit On Your Grave è a mio parere un ottimo horror del sottogenere rape&revenge.

I Spit On Your Grave isn't enjoyable, it's mentally scarring.
I Spit On Your Grave isn't enjoyable, it's mentally scarring. Honestly, I'm not sure how to wrap my thoughts around this and cohesively write a review. Everything about this film, is just wrong. But that's the point. Does that necessarily make it a good film? Perhaps, perhaps not. A young woman stays in a remote cabin where she is terrorised and ambushed by a group of men (including the local sheriff). Presumed missing, she returns to seek justice by her own twisted methods. "Twisted" is gently describing this harrowing story. Simply put, this is disgusting. Two horrific rape scenes, elaborate torture set pieces and an eye wincing amount of gore. Clearly it was going for the shock factor, to which it succeeds. Hands down, I've not seen anything quite like this. The amount of comments I was making throughout its runtime..."seriously!? You're going to rape her again!?", "Oh she's going to do it...oh ohhhh...OHHH she did it!!" and "Revenge is a dish best served cold, even if it is a shotgun up the bum!". I'm not a huge fan of the "torture" sub-genre, I believe it is rather divisive but I can see its appeal to genre enthusiasts. However, making something shocking just so that it is memorable and intimidating doesn't make a good "film". You have to encompass every aspect. At the end of the day, it is a glorified B-Movie about revenge. I'll give credit to Sarah Butler, it cannot have been easy to film certain scenes and I thought she did pretty well. Everyone else could've been replaced and it wouldn't have made a difference. The second act was a slog, the interval where we wait for her to reappear seemed to go on forever. She then all of a sudden becomes an expert at torture, I mean some of those contraptions like the bath filled with lye were just too elaborate. Don't get me started on why she would even stay in that cabin alone anyway! Did we need a remake of the 1978 cult film? Who knows, but we've got one and it is brutally savage. Not necessarily my type of genre, but I can appreciate the fan base for these.

Wow! Now THIS is what I call revenge!
Really brutal revenge films are like therapy for me. I can lose myself and for the sake of just a couple of hours, dream and fantasize that THIS is what happens in real-life to scum who get pleasure out of making other people suffer. Oh how I wish it were true...but at least I can always go back to this film when real-world atrocities make me seethe inside. A-B repeat is a really magical little tool isn't it?!!Problem is, most films fall WAY too short when it comes to payback. The only films I can recall even coming CLOSE to satisfying my blood-lust, were "The Hills Have Eyes" (remake), "Rambo" (2008) and "The Devil's Rejects". This film however, DELIVERS THE GOODS.I know to some people I sound a little nuts, but all my rage comes from a very deep EMPATHY. I'm someone who refuses to read newspapers or watch the news because anytime I hear of a murder or rape, I literally seethe with rage, for the families of victims, boyfriends, girlfriends etc etc....unfortunately empathy is an emotion that's seemingly lost on today's "justice" system, which would rather protect a criminals "rights" than put themselves in the shoes of a victim, and the suffering which they and their families go through.Anyway, I better stop there as I'm starting to get wound-up just typing, and this is a movie review after all.Everything about the production was spot-on. The cast were all excellent in what must of been very difficult roles to play (Sarah Butler was outstanding), the score was tense and creepy and the pacing was fantastic...I particularly loved how the acts of revenge were so drawn-out and calculated for maximum suffering...each guy got the same treatment back in VERY satisfying ways. This trumps the original for me...quite easily if I'm honest. I don't say that disrespectfully, as I'm a fan of that movie and obviously it's contribution to the history of horror cinema is legendary (I also reviewed it a while back). It's just this version is so damn good, not just because of the severity of the revenge either. Structurally the plot is more focused and "together"...with a little more emphasis on character development, especially in the case of the villains. The subtle changes to the story are welcome and make the piece as a whole more cohesive than the original...not to mention the performances are all stellar, while the original was kind of "hit or miss" in that department. I don't compare them visually of course, because the original was made decades ago and on a much smaller budget, while the remake has obviously had a fair bit of dough thrown at it. It shows as well, it looks fantastic. I'm usually quite traditional and have been known to scoff when I hear the term "remake", but I'll tell you what, both this and "The Evil Dead" have proved that with the right group of people behind them, they can be unbelievably good!!So yeah, if you're someone like me who wants to escape from this retched world where criminals have "human rights" (for INHUMAN ACTIONS), then this is definitely a film for you. You have to sit through a lot of mistreatment of our poor Jennifer, but trust me, it pays off!
