Good Product - Be Careful of the Distributor
I have purchased and used up a tub of the chocolate and the vanilla. I prefer the chocolate and my husband prefers the vanilla. When I recently reordered a tub of the chocolate, I clicked on the reorder option from my "My Orders" page. When I made my first shake with the new powder, the powder smelled a little different or "off." When I tasted the shake, it definitely tasted off, but I drank it anyway. Big mistake. I had a stomach ache within minutes. I called Amazon to tell them that something is wrong with the product, and they gave me a full refund. The agent also helped me reorder, and she pointed out that the 2nd tub of chocolate I had purchased came from a different distributor. My first order of the chocolate and vanilla, which was good, came from "Wholesome Nutrition Plus." This second tub of the chocolate came from "Tree of Life." I don't know what's wrong with it, but it's definitely inedible. SO BUYER BEWARE. Maybe if you got powder that tasted bad, it wasn't necessarily the product itself but something that happened to it on the distributor end or during shipping. Perhaps it was stored improperly--who knows. Even when I click on my new order again, it comes up from a different distributor each time. I had to go into the "Buy New" options and scroll through a couple of pages before I found my original distributor, "Wholesome Nutrition Plus." As for the product itself, it's a decent-tasting protein powder, when other items are mixed with it. To make my chocolate "shake," I use 10 oz. unsweetened, vanilla almond milk, one scoop of chocolate powder, 2 T. flax seed meal, 1 T. almond butter, about a cup of baby spinach, and a cup of frozen strawberries. It makes a tasty, filling, satisfying meal substitute.

BLECH
I am giving this two stars only because I am ABLE to drink it, but I am very unhappy with it. I have been drinking the Thorne Research Medipro Vegan all-in-one shake for years. Inexplicably, they stopped selling it. Now, this is what we are left with. It does not have all the fruits, veggies or probiotics that were in the vegan version. And it definitely tastes different. I don’t like it. I had finally found a way to make my shakes using the vegan version that really worked for me. This is not working. I would hate to have to start researching and reviewing protein mixes from other companies, but I think after I finish what I have left of this mess I am going to have to do just that. Thorne Research had a good thing going. I don’t know why they changed it. I can only guess somebody was trying to cut costs and increase profits. I don’t know what other explanation there could be. However, they may learn — like every other “brainiac” company out there— that cutting costs (and therefore quality) has a price. You will lose customers. It’s a fact. Take a look at every company out there who ever did this. They all eventually go out of business or the equivalent.**** UPDATE ****I see the seller posted a standard, automated (?) response to my two star review. It is meaningless. I reached out to Thorne Research to absolutely no avail. No changes will be made to the product, so the comment posted here is pointless. I have now officially switched to a new protein. Thorne Research changing its formula was a blessing in disguise. I just bought the Mercola vegan protein. Not only do I like the ingredients, but I love, love, love the taste!

VegaLite to the rescue
When my gut is out of whack, eating meat or most any other high-protein food is the last thing I feel like doing. VegaLite, however, soothes my stomach and gets some protein in my system when I don't feel like eating regular food. I blend one scoop of VegaLite with one scoop of THORNE RESEARCH - Medibulk - 8oz [Health and Beauty ], roughly 1.5 cups of unsweetened coconut milk (from the Trader Joe's refrigerator section), and a little ice. It tastes pretty good for a protein shake. And, it goes down more easily than any other shake I've tried. Same with the Medibulk--it goes down more easily than plain psyllium--and does the job without overdoing it. The shakes are so comforting, I can take vitamins along with them, in spite of what vitamins usually do to my stomach. A few days of having fiber-supplemented shakes and vitamins for breakfast--while cutting back on troublesome foods--and I'm ship-shape again. Yes, I should eat right all the time. If I did, I probably would have no need for pricey shake mix and the world's most expensive fiber supplement. What can I say? I tend to eat convenience food instead of cooking. (Cooking? What's that?) And, the tastiest convenience foods (mmmmmm, Runzas) aren't so great for my belly. Mea culpa, VegaLite to the rescue.

Keep it Simple
I absolutely love this protein powder! I take it with water every morning before my workout. It stabilizes my blood sugar and gives me sustainable energy. It tastes great too. What I like about this product most though is the simplicity of the ingredients. So many protein powders have a TON of herbs, vitamins, minerals, you name it, it's in there. What I learned the hard way is that even if there are benefits to certain supplements, it doesn't necessarily mean that particular supplement is good for YOUR body. Unless you have it muscle tested (via kinesiology) you don't know if an ingredient is helping you or actually damaging you...I almost ruined my liver from a supplement I was taking. The doctor told me after a blood test that I had the liver of an acute alcoholic and I didn't drink! So keep it simple. You can't go wrong with this product (unless you're allergic to pea protein or rice protein. On second thought, buy this product and take it to your kinesiologist to see if it works for YOU, then start taking it every day :) I think you're going to love it!
