Worth every penny.
After researching several pairs of boots I decided to take a chance and go with the Kiowa from Tactical Research. The boots are very light and even though they don't have a steel toe in them, they are extremely sturdy on the front end. After putting on the left boot it fit perfectly and was naturally a tad stiff and needed some breaking in. Putting on the right boot it felt too tight - something was very wrong with how it fit. It turns out that there were two of Tactical Research's sole cushions inserted in the right boot. I removed one and tried the right boot back on, and just as with the left - it was a perfect fit.A note on sizing: My Corcoran jump boots required me to by a size larger than my normal shoe size (10) - as well as the "wide" version (10.5w) but with these I ordered the same as my shoe size and they fit perfectly. Two days after getting these I went on a 4 mile hike wearing a 40 pound pack without any additional foot/gel inserts or cold weather socks in 28 degree weather. My feet stayed very warm and the texture of the soles allowed me to climb a different area of the 20 foot bluff I had never previously attempted. I have not yet tested them in rain (excessively) or water, but I can tell from the build they will not let in water easily and as another reviewer said - they will keep your feet dry unless you're standing in water.

Afghanistan Tested...
...and failed.I do quite a bit of walking around the Af-Pak border across mountains, rivers, farms, and ditches. These boots showed more-than-moderate wear in just over two months. The sole started to detached from the front on both boots and the tread is starting to tear off. The cannot repel water in the least after being broken-in. These would have suited me much better in Iraq, or RC-South around a very dry and dusty climate. Through vegetation and moisture, these don't stand a chance. On the up side, they are extremely comfortable. They wear like a running shoe, and I know I can't get momentum quickly with their lightweight and form-fitting architecture. If I were back in the states doing some casual hiking and otherwise not giving them a thrashing across one of the most inhospitable places on earth, they would be great.

Fit perfect very comfortable
Love these boots I usually wear a 8.5 in womens so I ordered size 6 and they fit perfect. I wore these boots for tactical training, I was standing out in desert from 9am to 9pm and my feet were comfortable the whole day. I use them for hiking 4-7miles on weekends and very comfortable. I've used these for my GoRuck events and they worked out great for me also

Boots
I realy like these boots. They fit as sized. I have worn them to work (tactical) for about six months now, and the only thing I noticed was the stitching on the toe came undone. Simple fix with a lighter cured that. They are comfortable and light. Too bad they discontinued the Multicam version.

Made in China...
Fairly comfortable boot. My problem is the sole. They aren't stitched and glued, just glued. After a couple of days, the inner part of my right boot started coming unglued.
