Impressive
I installed this on a back door as I was worried someone could just break the glass and unlock the deadbolt. I hope I never find out if it works. I think I read somewhere that is was 7ml which is quite think. I had no trouble installing at all. In fact it installed easier than regular film. I did make a template out of poster board which I found helped rather than cutting it larger then trimming while on the window. It looks great and all water has just about disappeared after a week. There will be some residue from the water and glue that will go away after a few days. Just make sure you follow instructions and squeegee until all water has been removed. I also installed on smaller bedroom windows that have no hurricane protection. All in all I'm very happy with my purchase.

Very difficult to apply
I would not recommend this product. I imagine it does what it says if you can apply it properly. I could not. Made many off cuts which resulted in not fitting properly & having gaps at borders. I basically have a close to $400 mistake here. If I could do over I would have a pro come out & put it on.

Installing ShatterGard Film
After my Daughter’s first floor condo was broken into I did research on security measures. I added additional dead bolts to the doors and added additional measures to the door jams. Options on the windows were to put bars on the inside of the condo as the condo association would not allow bars on the outside. Not wanting to make the condo look like a jail I came across ShatterGard. After reviewing the information on ShatterGard I decided that it was a viable option and purchased a roll for self-install. The following comments are based on my actual purchase and installation of the product:1. Product comes with all the significant tools that you will need (squeegees, knife to cut the film, spray bottle to apply water to the film and detailed written instructions).2. Things you will need to get are a gallon of distilled water, a small bottle of baby shampoo if you do not have it, a tape measurer, a wooden yard stick (from Home Depot or like) and a fine point sharpie pen (I would also suggest getting a small simple plastic “T” square from Walmart or other source).3. You will need an open area to cut the film. We used a large cardboard box broken open and placed on the floor. It needs to be at least 3.5 feet wide and as long as you can get it.4. This is a 2 person job.5. We placed the roll of film at the top of the card board and pulled it down and exposed a large long run. This way you can cut the film to size and you are cutting into the card board and not furniture or carpet (you are also protecting the film from scratches and damage).6. Evaluate your window sizes and decide how you will cut from the roll to minimize waste.7. IMPORTANT….. MEASURE WINDOW SIZE THREE TIMES AND ONLY CUT ONCE.8. Here is where the “T” square comes in handy. Make sure that the film is cut truly square at the bottom of the roil on all cuts. If it is not you add an error to your cut and the section of film you cut will not be truly square and will be off. It will drive you crazy when you go to place the film on the window and it is not square.9. I would recommend cutting the film a bit larger than that what you measured (about 1/8 inch extra on length and width).10. Clean the window according to the instructions.11. This is where the yard stick and sharpie come in handy. Measure and mark the film on the PROTECTIVE SHEETING side. The film has protective film much like plastic warp that covers the water activated adhesive.12. One person holds the cut sheet and you peel back the protective film and spray the adhesive and the window and then apply the cut film to the window and follow the installation instructions.13. If you have plastic lattice on your window remove and install film on the window and then replace the lattice. We did that on the back door.14. I did not have any windows with a measurement that would require overlapping two sections of film.15. If you do, I would suggest calling ShatterGard and getting assistance.16. BTW ShatterGard has great customer support and they will get back to you and help you with all of your questions.17. Once installed, you cannot tell the difference between a window with the film and one without the film.

Excellent stuff...buying more soon.
I had this product installed onto the sliding glass window of a rental property about 10 years ago. To this day, you wouldn't know it was even there, unless you knew what to look for. I'm upgrading two more sliding glass doors with this stuff soon too - excellent product.

Ordered the 50ft kit. Arrived well packaged and really liked all the included install items to make everything a breeze. Followed the well put together install instructions and everything went well. I had some large windows to cut the film for so I used our kitchen table as a guide and straight edge.
