Adequate but far from perfect
I got this case because I wanted a minimalist case stylish enough for my Nexus 7. What I got is more or less what I wanted. This case is similar in design to the leather Kindle covers that Amazon sells. A plastic shell lined in microfiber hugs the back of the tablet, while a leather-like flap covers the front of the device, connects to the plastic shell by a flap/hinge, and continues onto the outside of the plastic shell, giving the case a cohesive look from front to back. In the case of this Poetic cover, the plastic feels cheap and brittle, unlike the smooth and pliable plastic of the Amazon Kindle case. Regardless, the cover holds the Nexus 7 snugly inside and makes the device easy to hold and carry with one hand. Another quality concern is the spine/flap where the front meets the rear of the case. Due to the fit of the material, there's enough slack/play in the spine for the cover's front flap to stick out a couple millimeters beyond the right-hand edge of the device. This poor fit doesn't diminish the case's protectiveness, but suggests the product was designed to a price. The slack in the spine becomes even more apparent when you fold the front cover behind the back; the volume and power controls become especially difficult to reach because of the way the front flap sticks out in the way. If you don't change the volume often and rely on the magnets in the flap for the Nexus 7's wake/sleep functions, then you probably won't mind the reduced accessibility of the side buttons. If you close the case by allowing the front flap to fall closed, the magnets hit each other through the microfiber with a satisfying, lightly damped "snick" or "smack" sound - kind of cool. Aside from the minor quality concerns (which, again, hardly get in the way of functionality), I'm really happy with the look and feel of this case, and I'm glad I bought it.

Great, thin case that stands up to daily use
I bought this case after wanting something that wouldn't add any bulk to my Nexus. After a lot of research online, I finally settled on this one, well aware of some of the negative reviews indicating almost immediate fraying and degradation. However, I wanted to let everyone know that after over 7 months of almost daily use and travel, I've experienced none of the problems others have had. I read somewhere that Poetic came out with a second version (with only 2 magnets) that was much more sturdy. I don't know if that's true or not. Mine has 3 magnets but, as I said, hasn't cracked or frayed in the least in the last 7 months. I absolutely love this case and would immediately recommend it to anyone with a 1st gen Nexus 7.The auto wake/sleep function when you open and close the case works flawlessly while the inside fabric hasn't contributed to any scratches that I've noticed (however, I also have a screen protector on, so that may help things). Based on the design, you really do have to dig around to hit the volume or power buttons, but honestly, you get used to it to a point that it's not really a problem. The benefit, though, is there's not accidental bumping the power or volume buttons. The final feature I love is that the speaker area is cut out, so you're not losing any substantial volume by having it in the case.If you're someone who really likes using the trifold as a stand, you may be a little disappointed here. It tends to want to uncurl at the slightest touch of the device. That wasn't what drew me to the case, but if it's a must have for you, you might want to look at other cases. Basically, if you want something that doesn't bulk up your device, that adds a little color, stays closed until you want it to, has an auto wake/sleep feature, and protects your screen, this IS the case you want to get, no question about it.

Very Good Product Except For The Cover
I purchased the Slimline Portfolio Case for my Nexus 1st generation seven inch tablet and according to Poetic, this is the final version of this model case and apparently there have been improvements made over the earlier models except for the cover, which is very flimsy as noted by many reviewers. I like the way my Nexus tablet easily snaps into the case and is easily removed. The case itself seems very sturdy, except for the cover. The three magnets keep the cover firmly in place and wakes up my tablet when the cover is opened. There is a large opening for the speaker and smaller openings for the power switch, volume controls and charging port. Another complaint I have is that the openings for the power switch and volume controls are too recessed. Also the opening for the charging port for the USB cord is set too deep and unless you are careful, the cord will slip out while the tablet is charging or connected to your computer. I do like the blue color of the case I purchased and aside from the problem areas I mentioned, the case is worth the low price I paid for it. I needed a good inexpensive cover for my nexus tablet and the Poetic case, while not perfect, is a good choice for what it does.

Protects my device, but some wear and tear after only few months
I got this replace the rooCASE Ultra-Slim (Purple) Vegan Leather Folio Case which was badly falling apart at the seams. I do not recommend that product, the material is too soft and it falls apart too easily. The Poetic case is far from perfect, it is starting to fray at the edges a little bit but not anywhere bad as the rooCase. The only other criticism I have is that the folding stand doesn't always stay upright very well, but its not a big deal for me. You can buy cases with better stands but I didn't want the extra bulk. However, on the good side it fits the tablet perfectly, none of the ports on the Nexus 7 are blocked. I particular like that how it clips into the plastic frame, thus protecting the edges in case of accidental drop and fall and does not compromise any real estate on the screen! For the price I paid ($12.95) this is pretty decent lightweight case which fits the form factor extremely well. I would probably buy again unless I find a better alternative.PROS:Great form-factor, fits device perfectly!Price!LightweightProtects the corners and edges very well with a plastic frame.CONS:Material is bit too thin and tends to fray at edges over time.

Perfect case
I spent months looking for a case, I got my nexus in October and just bought the case for it January.Good:The case looks really sleek, not like the generic ones everyone hasReally snug fit, the nexus clicks into placeI feel like it's being protected, I've dropped it and there's been no damageThe magnets work really wellThe stand is fineBad:The stand isn't magnetic like iPad standsThe front flap is a tiny bit raised (minor)The buttons on the side are quite far in because of the thickness of the case (added protection), but it's not that big of a dealI think this is one of the nicest, yet cheapest cases out there, and I would definitely recommend it :)

Nice little cover!
Really happy with build quality and maintains a slim look for the tablet. On the downside, it got a scratch rather easily, and at times the 'srand' position is a bit flimsy and don't easily collapse. But once you adjusted it properly, it becomes more sturdy. The magnet is strong and keeep the cover securely. And I really like it how it turns on amd off my tablet on opening and closing the cover.I use it to type emails a lot and it sure helps with the inclined position. On whole, am really happy and gladly recommend the case to anyone.

Read the description carefully!
The product is exactly what I wanted but the way it was listed was very misleading as the black one was priced at Β£9.95 while the blue one was Β£19.95 which I didn't initially notice. Added to this was extremely expensive p&p so I was quite annoyed when I noticed. This was explained when the item arrived from USA! It it had been unsuitable or faulty it would have cost a fortune to return it. Items from abroad showed be label led thus (as they are on EBay) and different priced items listed separately!

Top case for a top tablet
Nice and neat just as described fits into my pocket. A slim case which holds the tablet securely, leaves access open to all ports and switches, and basically protects the device without getting in the way. It also works as a stand, to a limited extent. Many other cases mess about with tedious closures (elasticated straps, for instance) and innovative ways to hold your tablet . This one simply fits properly and securely by hugging the Nexus's shape perfectly and using magnets to keep it closed. It has a magnet to turn on and off the device when you open and close the cover, which is simple and, ultimately, provided more by the Nexus designers than the case designers - but whoever is to thank for this small innovation, it's brilliant.

Best slim case I have found
I tried a couple of cases which suffered from being too much bulky and covering the bezel of the screen so the menus no longer work and evernotes are difficult to edit. This case I recommend. It has hard back that clips firmly in place and a soft smart cover. High quality, all openings in exactly the right places. It suits the high tech finish of the Nexus 7.
