What a thing of beauty this is!
Zulay Extra Tall Orange Juicer - Manual Orange Juice Squeezer: Holy Moly! This is a thing of beauty. Ease of operation. Total mechanical advantage. I have wanted something like this for so long. I would buy lemons with the idea of juicing them with a handheld juicer, but that was never good and I wasted a lot of fruit without much success. Plus I have wrist problems that make the handheld ones difficult. Not so with this beauty. This is strong and powers through the fruit, leaving a desiccated peel, seeds and not much else. The night I got it I put a grapefruit in it and it just blew my mind. And, that was far and away the best grapefruit juice I'd ever had. Now, there are a couple of things I would change. First of all, the top 'cup', the part that comes down and actually does all the pressing. That is very difficult to clean. And second, if the handle is not exactly up as far as it goes, it will come down. Thanks to the elegance and simplicity of this design, I was able to come up with a couple of workarounds and though not faithful to the beautiful design (yet), they are functional and so I get full points for that. Sometimes function is more important than form. There are two screws that I replaced with knurled thumb-screws and now I can remove the top cup press part without tools. The first one goes to the shaft that goes through the top part of the cup and the second one which is a larger size, replaces the set screw that is on the back of the cup shaft that connects it to the vertical rod. The next thing I will probably do is to drill a hole in the top of the vertical rod and insert a roll pin or small stainless dowel pin so the rod doesn't just drop through when I disconnect the cup. Sounds like a lot of work, but it's not really and that part definitely needs to be cleaned. With the mods I've made, it a snap to remove and replace the cup. When the stores open again I will head out and try to find knurled thumb-screws that compliment the original design, because it really does look nice out of the box. OH! and the handle falling down part. If it were me, and now that I own it it is :-D I would put a latch or something on the fork that would prevent it from coming down. As it is, I just grabbed one of those fat rubber bands you get with broccoli and put that around the fork. When it's in the upright position, it is nothing for my finger to loop it over the vertical rod and that holds it up there. It's just as easy to un-loop it. All in all, despite my need for mods, (and possibly because of the ease of making the mods!) this was an excellent purchase and I would recommend it to anyone who is serious about juicing citrus. Great design Zulay!

WOO HOO!!!! LOVE LOVE LOVE!!!
FINALLY! I have wanted one of these devices for about a year after seeing one on a commercial (not for the product, but for a pharma advertisement, lol, the things we notice in the weirdest places). Well, I finally had to buy one as we are juicing so many lemons and now oranges and the electronic juicer that I purchased was just not getting all of the juice out of the fruit. Enter Zulay Kitchen. After viewing many juicers and reading 100's of reviews, I settled on Zulay and am very happy that I did. I will start by saying that this juicer is high quality and very strong as well as very well made. Keep in mind, this is not for the weak or may not be great for people with joint problems or pain in their wrists. It takes a little strength for it to be totally effective. I think people with joint issues or pain can still use it because it works so well and they can use their body weight as leverage to help push the plunger down. I use pressure to keep it against the back splash on my counter and that helps with the leverage of pushing the plunger down. Ideally, a crafty person, such as myself, will eventually find a way to mount this so it remains completely stationary, but that will come at a later time. So, that all being said, now let's discuss results. The results are the fact that this juicer get every bit of the juice out of the fruit. 3 oranges gave me 2 - 8oz cups of juice and it took six in the electronic juicer for the same amount (results are not guaranteed, keeping in mind that some oranges are just not as juicy as others and also, be mindful of the fruit size that you intend to juice). The electronic juicer I am speaking of is one that turns when you push the fruit down on it. I think it wastes juice by not pulverizing the pulp. So, I've done lemons, oranges and grapefruits and each time, it worked flawlessly. It cleans up very easily and looks kinda cool on your counter top. Mine is black and and stainless steel and looks great with the gray granite. As you can see in the picture, I have strainers to filter the pulp because this works so well. If you don't like pulp, get these screens to keep near by, they work great to remove the pulp. Also, it cleans up very very easily. Last but not least, a Pyrex 2 cup measuring cup fit perfectly under to catch the juice. I would recommend purchasing this product.

Excellent Juicer, Better than my electric one
I had this in my cart for over two months as I was weary this would be another gadget I don’t use. I have used this consistently since we purchased it a few weeks ago. Works wonders and is super easy to use. Fresh juice and clean up done in under a minute!

Much easier than an electric juicer
Exactly as advertised! Beautiful red color with very sturdy and solid base. Obviously the juicer is not “compact” so it will take up a bit of counter or cabinet space but it is not overly bulky either. The biggest perk is how easy it is to clean. It’s a keeper.

Nice
Gave it 4 stars because my electric juicer produces more juice with the same amount of oranges. This one is easier to use though. Not messy to clean up like my electric one. Quite pricey but does the job as described.

Turn orange tree fruit into fresh juice
Living in Tucson we have fresh citrus available much of the year and when it’s there on the tree, picking it is not the problem. It’s peeling. I have wrecked my fingernails and tried several different fruit peeling gadgets but the benefit of the delicious fresh juice has eluded me, with oranges going to waste, even when I have been able to give some away. We either have no oranges, when it’s not the season, or we have so many they go to waste. Enter the non-electric hand operated juice press! Suddenly the rate limiting step in the processing of fresh oranges into something fresh sweet and delightful can be accomplished with ease. And no more tearing up the thumbnail beds or fumbling around with the cute little plastic peelers that end up squeezing half the juice out of the fruit while you’re trying to maneuver, which kind of defeats the purpose. I love this juicer. It’s easy to clean. There is one small thing to know about. Well, two. I bought the black one. There is something about this enamel (the enamel part does not touch the fruit at all, that’s protected from the coated finish) but there is something about the smell of this item, it reminds me of an electrical appliance that has gotten too hot. Like burning plastic. And this is 100% hand operated. The offgassing, if you can call it that has diminished over the past 3 weeks since I opened the box. Now it’s barely noticeable. I think it kind of smelled like burning electrical / plastic at first, then it kind of smelled like roof tar after a few days and now it almost smells like nothing. It’s only there for the first couple weeks. Do NOT let this report of a bad smell on the body of the device (not the part touching the fruit, just the parts touching everything else) …. Don’t let it stop you from buying this little kitchen friend. The smell goes away by itself. The useful device is a worthy element in a simple health-striving kitchen. Item number two - cleaning this thing… to clean this thing, simply remove the two shiny metal parts that can be rinsed and or washed in a tub of normal dishwater. (Could go in the dishwasher too I imagine). Wait you say, how do you get these two shiny parts unstuck from eachother for cleaning? Observe carefully there is a little slot in the one and a tab in the other. Just rotate the middle part inside the outer part and it slips out easily. If you don’t see this feature (I wear glasses so I miss things sometimes) it would be easy to think the two soap and water washable shiny parts this SOB have become jammed and impossibly stuck together. Once you catch on this tab - slot fitting feature you discover it’s incredibly easy to clean. The whole device can be rinsed off in the sink and dried with a towel or air dried. If we lose electricity from time to time we still have orange juice. The simplicity is astonishing and it’s a beautifully designed piece of artwork for those who appreciate simplicity, low tech and high function. I think the price is reasonable and I wish I had gotten myself one of these sooner.

Respect some of the critiques, but still a big fan
We purchased this a few months ago and waited until we juiced a few hundred fruits to write a review. Here's what to expect and our thoughts on other reviews we read: It totally works as advertised -- we've juiced limes, lemons, oranges and tried pressing non citrus fruits because, hey, why not? You get a high yield and if after juicing, you strain it to remove pulp and only slight amounts of pith, it's just totally solid. The bottom line is we're big fans, but here are some considerations to see if it's right for you: 1) It's heavy -- about 15lb / .45kg, so keep this in mind for storage and access. We put ours on top of a fridge when we're not using it, so only one of us can take it down/put it away 2) It's very sturdy, but you're pulling the lever in a forward arc, so you still have to place a free hand firmly on the juicer to prevent it from tilting forward -- we use the rectangular shaped area at the top/back of the juicer. If you place it on your kitchen counter, and have to put your hand on the back to hold it steady, though, you're going to struggle handling this if you're shorter than 5'5" (approximating here, but hopefully this helps). And Zulay, if you're listening, consider how to add more weight/stability to the rear of the unit to address this in future models. 3) The lever is heavy and sturdy, so I understand people's concern for safety by leaving it in the upright position, but it is slightly balanced more than 90 degrees in the other direction, so my guess is, "if" it is falling forward, people are bumping into it more than gravity taking over. Be alert/careful, but we ourselves are not overly concerned by this. 4) Maybe this should have been ranked higher, but you do not have to be very strong to use it. It's heavy to move around, we definitely need to hold it steady, but don't mistake the feedback for needing to be a body builder to crush a fruit. The hinges and weight do all the work until the last 1-2 inches of pressing. It requires a little strength, but very non-athletic, non strong people should still be able to press through the fruit. 5) Cleanliness and Cleaning -- You don't need an apron per se, but small amounts of juice will spray out of the sides when pressing, so either slow it down to contain the juice, or prepare to wipe up with a quarter sheet of paper towel when you're done, and of course wipe down the exterior because the acidity will probably cut through the lacquer at some point. The press essentially has three main pieces to clean - the steel press, and the two base pieces (and upside cone-like piece and funnel). The latter two are simple to clean -- they drip of course, but you take them out, wash them off and boom, but the press is attached to the unit so it's a little harder to clean. It's only touching the outside of fruit, but still... 6) We've heard the paint is chipping on some units and landing in your juice. This sounds terrible but we're not seeing it. Our guess is it's either defective units or the acid from the citrus is causing chipping over time, but if you use a wet sponge...we'll have to see, but we're not terribly concerned about this. Our hands are less cramped, we're juicing more limes faster, and here's a trick, we're filling ice cube trays with 1-oz pours of lime juice and freezing them so we can pull them out one margarita at a time and make the juice last longer. Thanks Zulay, and good work on this one!

So easy!
This is a great product! The quality and material is nice. It has some weight to it to hold it down while you’re juicing but it isn’t too heavy. It’s much more convenient than my much more expensive electric juicer and you only have to clean two parts. It makes juice so quickly so it’s perfect for a fresh cup of juice with breakfast. It stores easily on the counter and doesn’t take up much space. My kids love using it so that’s a win for me because they have made their own juice. It requires a some effort but nothing too difficult. I don’t have a bad thing to say about it.

Arrived bent
The product itself is a good design and reasonable quality but the base arrived bent so it would not sit flat on the bench top. I sent it back because of this. Will consider reordering but hope they won’t send me the same one again….

impressed with whats pressed
if you can get this for cheap then it is worth the price fun little contraption, if you are going to do oranges, then you have to use medium sized ones, large oversized oranges although yield more juice are really messy and difficult to squeeze medium sized oranges make the whole experience seamless one medium orange yields about 100ml of juice
