Stabila 08100 - HL100 Basic Laser Hole Locator with lock down nuts and adapter plate

This is a great tool, I'd buy it again but it's not fool proofUnlike the advertizement you can't just pop it in a stud hole, let it self align, and dial in the grade. If you are doing long (15' to 20' long) sanitary lines through "I joists" (as I spent today) you can't get the exact fall with the spirit level on the instrument. The spirit level will get you close but don't depend on it. You can drill a hole or two and take measurements over a longer length and realign the beam as necessary. Then you can get some really consistent holes. I think the laser dot is fat and fuzzy. But, it's very visible and if you are consistent in picking the same part of the dot, it works OK. My construction helper claims the dot is fine and he seems to be able to measure to 1/16" without a problem. Maybe I have old eyes. For running romex and water lines it is a super tool. In these applications the fall isn't critical and you can re adjust if you discover an out of level.My Amazon supplied laser was missing a couple parts. I called Stabilla and they sent me what I needed at no charge. I didn't return it to Amazon as I could use it on a current job-thanks Stabila.For me I would hate to go back to measuring and drilling. It's nice to be able to consistently drill 1/8" or less grade. Time saver I'm not sure, fool proof self centering-not hardly; but the quality of my work has improved a lot. Worth the money!

This is a clever little unit, at a very good price.Just a heads up... this product is no longer on the Stabila website as of September 2015, so this model must have been discontinued, and these units are New Old Stock. They are brand new, unopened and unused units, but they have been sitting in a warehouse a few years. My unit had factory-installed batteries with a 2011 expiration date (no corrosion problems, just old batts). My unit works perfectly, and I'm happy to have it. Thanks!

It's a great tool for a plumber, or anyone needing to drill a lot of holes in a row. A little touchy with the left to right alignment, which is why only four stars. But if you're very careful lining it up, it'll work like a charm. Can't beat the price either!

I believe the item had been sitting in a warehouse for a while, but the price was right. The tool has limited applications, however it is a huge time saver in those applications. The tool paid for itself on the first job…perfect!

works well to align holes...have used for aligning holes in radiant floor tubing as well as plumbing..

Another fine product by a great manufacturer.I'll be quite satisfied when I own one of every product the make.I'm a General contractor obsessed with quality work. It's tools like this that makes my jobs easier and ensure professional quality.
