No more smokey startups!
Super easy to install! No more smoking startups with these updated valve covers. I also installed that oil bypass relief valve shield in the oil pan on our 2007 suburban 5.3 aluminum block. That shield was not a fun thing to install! If you do do that, replace the oil pump pick up tube o ring while you have the oil pan off.

This fit perfect. Very easy to remove the old and install this. The old one was all gummed up with gunk. I was having the notorious oil consumption over 5000 miles. I was losing about one quart in that time. I Not anymore, this fixed the problem. I also removed and cleaned the right side. Why have one clean and new and the other all gunked up. I am glad I did because the passenger side was nasty! I also fixed the slight valve cover oil leak.I would recommend replacing the left, cleaning the right and new gaskets. This will keep the engine cleaner and cooler.

No more smoke on start up.
My truck was smoking on start up and I originally had diagnosed this as valve stem seals. I replaced all 16 and the issue was fixed for a few thousand miles and the smoking began again along with some oil consumption (I cleaned the VC at the same time which is probably what temporarily cured the smokey start up) . After doing a little more research I found that the PCV system in the GM LS valve covers from the early 2000s could become plugged up and cause the smoky start up. After swapping this VC on my smoky start up is finally cured. This VC has a slight difference in the baffling which I believe is what alleviates the smoke on startup. I was also very pleased that it came with a gasket, grommets and bolts!

So far, it has solved the "smoke at start up". Will watch it and advise. That was the reason to purchase, according to some of the other reviews.

IT WORKS! Can't believe I burned oil for the last 100k...
I have had this valve cover installed for about 1000 miles. I checked at 500 miles and couldn't tell if any oil had dropped. I just got back from another 500 mile highway trip, and I still cannot tell if any oil has been burned. Right at the top of the Hash marks! I was burning about ONE QUART PER 1500 miles before. I should be more than 1/2 quart low at 1000 miles.I did do a Diablosport (87 Octane) Tune at the same time, where I turned off the V4 mode. I also replaced my oil pressure sensor and screen shortly after doing this. The first few cold starts I no longer saw thick white or grey smoke, and I haven't since. My 2008 Burb never smoked that bad, compared to some of the other reviewers. I have been adding MMO(Marvel Mystery Oil) during the last 500 miles of each oil change, and I never go more than 4,000 miles unless I'm on road trip vacation. Oil is cheap, replace it often(10k is scary!). I will be switching to Valvoline MaxLife Full Synthetic 5W-30 now that I'm no longer burning oil. I have been running Castrol Syntec 5W-30 since I bought the truck with143k in 2013. I'm now at 237k, 300k should be no problem.I read all of the horror stories about the AFM engines burning oil. Too many folks talking about collapsed rings, lifters, and replacing pistons, when all we needed was a simple PCV fix? I will be doing all of my U-Joints this spring and dropping the front diff to check the oil pan for the infamous cracked O-ring on the oil pickup. If you stop on a hill and your oil pressure drops but doesn't on a level surface, your O-ring is aerating your oil causing pressure fluctuations. This took me less than 20 minutes to remove and install. That includes cleaning and fixing cracked plastic conduit on the ignition coil wires.

Working perfectly so far.
Replaced the failed dorman version with this oem version. It is an improved design with a square baffle hole, that is relocated to prevent oil burn. Looks very similar to the dorman. However this one made my idle better and no burning oil so far.

Quality product. Includes Gasket and bolts.
This is the newest edition LS valve cover. Like other I have a problem with oil consumption. Product is very good quality. Everything you need is included. Like gaskets and new bolts etc. Installation was easy. Time will tell is this reduces my oil consumption. So far there is no difference.
