Toyota Super Jeans J34 Sewing Machine

Love this machine except that it doesn't handle cone thread perfectly. The thread tangles and breaks at the needle after sewing for an hour or so. Otherwise, strong and reliable.

La compré para mi madre que ha sido profesional de la costura durante muchos años y siempre ha trabajado con máquina industrial. Ella esta super contenta, todo funciona bien, tiene marcha y fuerza. Daba miedo porque tiene partes de plástico, pero nada, es dura. El enhebrador, hay que revisarlo, porque tiene un hilito de metal dentro que puede estar desviado. Pero genial! Volvería a comprar sin dudar.

En general funciona muy bien. Se pueden coser tejidos gruesos fácilmente. Como puntos negativos destacar que el cable del pedal es un pelín corto...y el manual de instrucciones es lo peor: viene en un CD donde no hay manera de aclararse. Es mejor ir a la pagina oficial de Toyota y descargar el manual desde ahí. Se echa en falta unas agujas para tejidos finos. Aun así la considero una buena compra.

Por el momento muy contento con la compra, es verdad que agunta muy bien varias capas de vaqueros, el enhebrad de la aguja es un plus, es fácil de enhebrar, es ligera, no se mueve por la mesa... qué puedo decir. Volvería a comprarla.

I ordered this machine specifically to sew jeans and multiple layers of denim. It is not carried in the USA, so I ordered it from Amazon UK with plans to use with a voltage converter. Amazon did an excellent job with a quick delivery. However, out of the box, the needle struck the throat plate and was not aligned to the hole. Thinking it was a bent needle, I switched to a brand new needle and again the needle was misaligned. On closer inspection, the hole in the presser foot was also misaligned from the hole in the throat plate. The needle bar was misaligned. Amazon UK was very responsive about me returning the machine, though the return shipping cost was exorbitant from the USA. Reading the manual, I found that if you unscrew a single screw on the back side of the machine allowing you to remove the left front cover as if you were going to change the light bulb (the cover where the Toyota emblem is), you can see the needle bar (the part that holds the needle) and there is a black set screw at the top of the needle bar assembly. Turning the screw will align the needle bar front to back in the throat plate needle hole. I'm also sure any sewing machine repair shop could easily perform the needed adjustments, however I was very disappointed that this machine was misaligned out of the box! It sews multiple layers of denim well, threading is easy, and the special glide foot for sewing over thick uneven layers all work well. Unfortunately, I expected a higher quality from Toyota given their reputation with cars, and apparently Toyota has been making sewing machines longer than cars! In retrospect, I wish I would have saved myself all the hassle and just bought one of the Singer Heavy Duty machines available here in the USA. At any rate, I thought I'd share my experience.
